    wheelchair holster

Unfortunately my father passed away three weeks ago now. At the funeral, an uncle of a long time friend showed up. He his paralyzed from the chest down after crashing a friend's dirt bike on his wedding day. He broke his own rule that day, never ride someone else's s***.

With that being said, while talking, I noticed he had a universal velcro holster attached to his wheelchair. I was impressed.

I now want to buy him a kydex, or safariland holster with adapter for his wheelchair. Any suggestions? Uses Ruger p95. I forgot to mention, he lives in Az.

Well, what kind of wheelchair, and where does he have it attached? And how? Is it concealed or not concealed. Saying you want to buy him a holster tells us very little. We need the how and where questions answered before we can give you any advice.

He has it on the wheelchair tubing by right foot. He carries it exposed.

I do believe I said it was attached to his wheelchair when I noticed it. If it was supposed to be concealed, he's doing a horrible job lol. Thanks in advance for your help.

So are you looking for a holster to replace it? Or are you looking to get him a concealed holster? What exactly are you looking to do. Without that, we still don't know what kind of advice to give you.

there doesnt seem to be many wheelchair options short of rigging a standard holster up to a the chair somehow, which shouldnt be too hard but you would want it mounted tight and solid

maybe something like an andrews leather carjacker holster, it goes on the belt but the gun rides horizontal and should be able to conceal with just a large shirt (although the p95 is a pretty large gun)

Any holster with a belt loop or holes and a few zip-ties will work. Reusable zip-ties might be a better choice if he wants to move it around on the chair.

To be honest, though, I'd imagine it'd be a better idea to carry it on himself for self-defense. If someone shoves him off his chair to mug him or steal his gun then he won't be able to move around much and he'll probably be out of reach of his gun. Not trying to create a "what if" conversation but it's a thought. We have to remember that a lot of thieves and muggers are opportunists, and sadly, handicap/elderly people are big targets for crooks.

I dunno. Having it the chair should be fine. It is important that he be able to access it. Depending on his situation, having it on his person might not be anywhere near as accessible for him.

Yea, that's the mount I found too. I like it. Safariland also has a comp style mount but I'm not sure I like it.

I also thought about talking to him about on body carry for that reason, getting removed from his chair. I'm just surprised he is carry a handgun, never took him for a gun guy.

Thanks a lot you guys, really appreciate it.
