Hk 45 usp stainless reliability test

Hi everyone I'm conducting a reliability test with my stainless Hk usp. The test will be to shoot as many rounds as possible (with no cleaning at all for the mechanics) until it has a failure of some kind. However, I will not risk my safety and will be cleaning the barrel (which has nothing to do with improper feeding or ejecting) . ALL OTHER PARTS WILL NOT BE TOUCHED. So far today I've shot 200 rounds through it. Here are the specs for the rounds:

Thanks for sharing. Are you going to leave the chamber dirty? A dirty chamber is my guess as to what would cause the first failure, that or weak mag springs. Btw, the first two photos don't show up for me.

I went through over 1k of my own relaods with no issues other than the slide not locking back due to weak magazine spring.

Ya gotta love these endurance tests---you could spend a LOT of money on ammo only to find out your pistol will run a REALLY long time before a cleaning is needed. Reloads might be a touch dirtier than factory ammo and that could affect final result.
Just for your information, I bought a brand new HK USPf 9mm when they first came out---April 1994?
I shot it several times---cleaned and lubed it (BreakFree CLP) and it became my "daily driver"---I shot other guns during this time, but the USP was always included for 50-100 rds or more and the pistol was not properly cleaned, just wiped the external surfaces with CLP to prevent rust. Well, I shot that pistol in this manner for YEARS---even DECADES using a wide variety of factory ammo (no reloads) without a single failure of any kind. I carried the piece in an old leather holster given to me by my old friend Gordon Davis (RIP)---continued to shoot the pistol with no real cleaning until finally I started to notice weak extraction---the gun continued to function, just the empty cases were not thrown very far. I finally broke-down the pistol and I was truly surprised how little dirty it really was. The main point was the extractor had a large buildup of gunk under it to the point where it was barely grabbing a tiny bit of the case rim causing the weak extraction. A spray of "Gun Scubber" and a old toothbrush removed all the gunk and finally the gun was actually cleaned and lubed with CLP again and put back in service.
I consider this a remarkable display of reliability---so what I'm sayin' is this "test" could take awhile…
Oh, and if I showed you the pistol today, you would think it was used very little over the years---looks almost new!

This should be interesting, and possibly expensive. The Mark 23 which isn't all that dissimilar internally went through a 30,000 round endurance testing. I'd expect the USP to perform very similarly.

Like other posters have stated, it's going to be an expensive test. Just a heads up that you may abort the test at 5,000 rounds fired and just formulate an early conclusion that your USP is boringly reliable.

Haha well this test is going to take quite a while. It's not like I'll be going to the range every day. I'll go maybe once a week, shoot 200-300 rounds of reloads, take some pics and repeat. Plus it's the only 45 I have.

Me too haha I generally load light and never load hot. I just need to never do a double charge or a squib charge and I'll be good. Even if I did a double charge, I'm confident that the Hk could handle it just fine.

Look at the endurance test Todd Green did on a HK45. Might not be worth it.....you could be going through a LOT of ammunition.
