Some magazines not dropping free from Kimber 1911.

Hey guys. I'm a bit stumped and not sure what, if anything I can do about this issue. I have 5 magazines for my Kimber Stainless Target II (9mm). 1 is factory 8rnd, 2 are a brand I don't know but are 9rnd with a black base plate, and 2 are Wilson Combat 10rnd mags.

My issue is that when empty, the Wilson Combat and 2 unknown 9rnd magazines do not drop free from the gun when the mag release is depressed. They eject about 3/4 of an inch but then I actually have to grab them and pull them free of the magwell. The factory 8rnd mag drops free just fine.

Anybody out there have some insight as to what might be happening here and if there is anything I can do about it on my own?

Check to make sure the grip screws and/or the grip screw bushings are not protruding into the magwell at all.

Are the mags that are hanging up new or old? Do they drop free from other 1911s?

Also check to see if the mags are rubbing against the trigger bow...

I bought the gun used just recently so am not sure of the age of the magazines, They can't be that old as the seller only claimed 500 rounds through the gun before I bought it and none of them show very much wear at all. Sadly, I don't currently have another 1911 to try them in, a situation I hope to remedy soon.

I will check the grip screws and bushings as well as the trigger bow when I have it apart again for cleaning. Thanks for the ideas.

So are grip screws and the trigger bow the only two things that could be causing this issue or are there any other specific things I should be looking for?

It could be the magazine feed lip have expanded a little.

How far do you have to pull the mags before they come free? Do you see any scuff marks on the bodies?

As CSA suggests, take the grips off and try.
