Browning HP compared to CZ 75

So I have a CZ75 BD that I like quite a lot - very comfortable, well balanced accurate etc - only thing I don't like are the stock sights, which I will likely change. Local LGS has Browning HP Mark III (the one with the side grooves for the thumb). Expensive, but beautiful and very comfortable/well balanced. I realize that the CZ is a de-cocker DA/SA model and the HP has a safety. I'm OK with that. Since I can't try out the BP, I'm looking for advice from those who have owned/shot both to see how comparable they are so I can figure out if it's worth buying the HP. I won't be selling the CZ, just adding to the collection (also have a CZ P-01), but given the price of the HP, I'm a bit hesitant.

    Thanks

I've shot both of mine a fair amount, both are accurate and reliable. The 75b handles the recoil a little better, the lack of any type of beaver tail can be a problem with the HP, if you have bigger hands.
I only shoot my CZ's in SA, the triggers are close, I have removed the mag disconnect from my HP. Also if you use a thumb toward hold on the HP it can cause you to inadvertently lock the slide back while shooting.
If I had to choose one or the other, I'd take the CZ.

HP just a tad better, imo, than the CZ.

Jeff Cooper noted both as the two best combat handguns in the world.

I would buy both, and I have.

Only upgrade was Novak sights on the HP...a very easy diy.

              Had both. Prefer the CZ.

Hi-Power is a really nice gun. Just pulling the slide back is a beautiful feeling. So smooth. Grip is shorter than the CZ, but it's actually a really nice size. I didn't have problems with the sights on the MKIII. Safety is small, but perfectly fine. Trigger pull was a wall, which people say is great about it. But it was an 8 pound wall. I pulled out the mag disco and it dropped to 6.5 pounds. Nice, crisp, heavy.

CZ is less expensive, shoots just as accurately, lighter trigger pull, but in comparison, lots of slop.

I loved the Hi-Power, but I didn't love it as a $1000 gun. I'd love it as a $500 or $600 gun. So if you can find a nice used on on GB, like the P35s that are all over there, then you've got yourself an ugly nice shooting example.

Reason I sold my Hi-Power was a seeming lack of standard holsters. Everything was leather, or really dang expensive. I just wanted a cheap plastic one. Seemed hard to find.

I would buy another one, if only for historic reasons, and only to use at the range, if it were a WWII example. I really, really want one of the Inglis Chinese marked ones. But now you are talking about a collector piece and not a shooter.

I have both a CZ SP-01 and a Hi Power. I have the blued HP with adjustable sights and I love it. Even with the mag disconnect I find the break on the HP more crisp than the CZ. Haven't gotten around to removing the disconnect, my thought is that this gun was built and designed with the mag disconnect prior to California requiring one, so it doesn't bother me as much as guns that weren't designed to have one and was subsequently added because of lawmakers and company lawyers.

The hi-power is a must have 9mm if your going to have a 9mm in your collections.

I've owned both. Not taking anything away from the Browning H.P. but I prefer the CZ-75.

Got both , did trigger job on both , cz75 is now 4# and hp is like 2.5# , both are super easy to do trigger job , you really don't need a smith if your handy.

Love the BHP. My brother in-law has a "real" one from a few decades ago. I always ask him if he wants to sell it and I always get the same answer in response. So, I just gotta keep asking.....

+1, except my new HP definitely needs trigger improvement. I'm looking forward to it smoothing out with more usage... In fact, I'm sitting here dry firing it right now.
On mine, the Mag Disconnect is a requirement. Haven't fully researched the procedure yet, but I think you need to drive out the pin on the trigger. I love the gun, but I'll definitely
love it more when the trigger can match the beauty of the gun. Until then, a crappy trigger is holding back this HP from true greatness.

I have both and love both, but my hp feels as though is a part of me. I did a trigger job on it and mag disconnect safety removal and now the trigger is just around 3lbs.
To me, hp is tighter, more balanced and points better.

I am actually considering adding another another custom one from Novak.

Yeah, me too. But it is really a personal preference thing. I definitely prefer (in box stock form) the 75B SA over the standard 75B, but I shoot both just fine.

Never could "get a handle" on the BHP. It always seemed like the grip was a bit too small for me regardless of the grips I installed. Yet I have never had that problem with the (smallish) grips on a 1911. Never could get consistent with the BHP from one range trip to the next. Maybe things could have improved with it for me through further customizing, but I have gotten to the point where if a gun is not consistent for me and my style of shooting then I won't just dump money into it to try and make it so. Just the wrong overall ergos for me in the end, so I sold it.

So I guess my recommendation is not to drop the dough on a BHP before shooting one. Maybe another local range has one you can rent?
