M&P Shield Apex Triger mod

It got rid of the mush - it is a lot more of a crisp break. It seems really gritty from the factory. There is still a slight take up but smoother.
I am not sure about the low and left issues but it is a much better trigger after the APEX kit. Removing the rear sight can be troublesome. Make sure you have a proper tool for it. Some comes off easier than others.
You will like it. If you do install the kit, let us know how you like it. -
Funny, my dad just got an M&P 9 and he constantly shoots low and to the left, so I thought I would try it and I also shot low and to the left, but not as much. Must have something to do with the trigger I think. Usually it's from jerking the trigger or tightening your grip as you pull the trigger I think. It got rid of the mush - it is a lot more of a crisp break. It seems really gritty from the factory. Well for what everyone says it has to do with the gun being smaller and trigger control because of it. i guess you kind have to find your groove with the gun. But i have read plenty of people saying that the apex trigger mod helps with the issues.Comment

Gun can be shot fine withour apex trigger. Use first knuckle to pull trigger (more of trigger finger per usual)Comment

I agree with the above.
I was also pulling to the left and that has stopped unless I find my self "flinching". I'm very happy with the change.
Others who handled my Shield both before and after also think the change is for the better.Certified Glock Armorer/NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and RSOComment

The entire M&P series respond well to trigger enhancements. You can get pretty good results by just dropping in the Apex parts/kits but you can get great results if the kit and gun are properly tuned.Comment

Did you guys drop in the mod yourselves?
I believe it's a training thing...my Glock 19 shot the same way until I dropped in a lighter trigger. I'm going to try and shoot a couple more hundred rounds from my Shield and find the best grip before I drop $100 on the mod."Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not."Comment

It took me about 150 continuous rounds at the range to finally shoot the gun point-of-aim, point-of-impact. Now it's not even an issue anymore as I'm right on target with the gun. Then again, I'm not shooting this gun beyond 20 yards max. This gun's primary use is for CCW/self defense and at close range anyway.Funny, my dad just got an M&P 9 and he constantly shoots low and to the left, so I thought I would try it and I also shot low and to the left, but not as much. I also initially shot low and left with my Shield, and still do if I don't practice with it enough, even though I have a FS 9 also and I never shot that one low left. I have the Apex aluminum trigger on my FS now with Trij HD sights and I shoot it better than ever. I do think this is a combination of the narrower grip and the trigger pull on the Shield. I have to place my finger in a different location than my FS than I'm used to, which has my finger rolling over a bit if I don't pay attention to it. I shoot enough not to flinch AFAIK, but if I dry fire the Shield, I can see the movement just from the trigger pull.
When I was first learning to shoot, it was recommended to me to put random snap caps in the mags and you will find some of your issues (anticipation, pulling to one side or the other, etc...) very quickly, and it really does help diagnose those sorts of things. Dry fire practice also helps.Last edited by Malaprop14; 09-26-2014, 7:17 AM.Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, but do it first.Comment

Installed the trigger myself on my Shield. Removing the rear sight was the hardest part of the installComment
