Yaqui style holsters

I am thinking of possibly going with a Yaqui holster for a Ruger SR1911.

This will not be my main carry gun but thinking I will carry it from time to time.
My main carry gun is a M&P Shield 9mm

I know that Jeff Cooper endorsed and used Yaquis
What are the pros and cons of them?

They're also known as "Mexican slide".

I use one mainly for a Colt Lightweight Officer, but it obviously also fits my Commander and Government Model.

They're lightweight, easy to holster, and very easy to present.

A "Con" might be that they may not retain a weapon as well as a holster that covers the entire barrel / slide. That I've not seen as an issue whatsoever.
They also, obviously, don't encase the weapon completely, so if a bit of wear due to rubbing clothes or other stuff bothers you, find something bigger and bulkier.

Honestly, holsters are like the weapons that go into them...impossible to say which is "best"...you've got to try a few until you find the best one that works for you.

All 3 of mine were made by Milt Sparks...no complaints.

I have a Galco brand Yaquis slide holster---not my favorite (I prefer "Avenger" style holsters), but very useful for pistols that are difficult to find holsters for, like say an S&W SW99 (large P99 clone) in 45 ACP or an HK 45C, etc. Versatility is it's main feature---it can be adjusted to many pistols---don't know about revolvers though...

I've used them on and off through the years to carry off-duty.

Pros:

Minimal holster, adds virtually nothing to the bulk of the pistol.
Easy draw as there are no retention devices.
Good retention with semi-autos for something so minimal as the holster is tensioned against your body when worn properly.

Cons:

Leaves a lot of your weapon exposed. Easy for casual viewers to write off a flash of leather, not so easy when it's your pistol muzzle that they see.
Lack of retention devices can leave you with an empty holster after periods of sudden and extensive exertion, especially with a J-frame revolver... don't ask.

Seems like it should fit my needs
Being this is Alabama Im not too concerned about printing etc

I also like the fact its a classic 1911 holster
