Ported vs Non ported G22 barrel

Just picked up a Gen 4 Glock 22 and would like to swap barrels on it.
I plan to get the 40 - 9 lone wolf first, but which would you guys get.
Lone wolf ported or non ported 40s&w replacement barrel?

The 9mm doesn't have the recoil that a 40S&W does, so why bother with porting? Plus you will loose some velocit with the ports.

Also, most 9mm rounds don't have enough pressure to get a real effectiveness from a ported barrel. So if anything, losing the pressure before the bullet leaves the barrel may actually cause a reduction in performance on the projectile.

A lot of competition shooters also relate to this, and if you're really looking for something to help reduce recoil or muzzle flip on a higher pressure round fired out of your handgun, then use a comp instead of a ported barrel.

The conversion barrel will be non ported.
I was also going to get a LW barrel for the 40 smith cartridge too.
Would there be a noticeable difference between ported and non firing the 40 cartridge?

I have a 22C with stock Glock porting... also have a non-ported .357 Sig Barrel, extended 9mm ported barrel (barrel porting outside the slide), and just bought a non ported Glock 22 RTF. If I get a chance to compare on the same trip I will post.

This guy estimates something like 30% muzzle flip reduction and 3% velocity decrease IIRC.

Non ported on the 9 and .40

You're not going to notice any recoil reduction with holes in the barrel. Maybe some flaming dirt in your eyes....

            G22 Gen 4........excellent choice.

I never had any debris from the 22C, but a snub nosed .357 with six ports will make you shoot .38's

I would get the non-ported for sure. I got the G22C and the LW ported 40-9 barrel because they were in stock and I didn't care either way but wanted to buy NOW. If I had a choice I'd get barrels equal to slide length... and since you don't have a ported slide you would get an extended ported barrel or the ports could blow crap into your action. They can do that with slide ports too, but not bad.

                  Thanks!

I was thinking that too since the ports are on the top possible blowback to the face could be annoying.

Is there a noticeable difference in accuracy between factory and lone wolf barrels?

Don't know about the LW barrels, but I will tell you my 22c has less recoil then my regular 22. Matter of fact it may have less recoil then my 17s.
I am not recoil sensitive and really like the .40 and my 22c is a great gun. I always laugh when I hear about the ported blowback and the huge fireball that will screw up your night vision, internet BS. Got news for you in the dark you got a fireball coming out of the barrel of every handgun. The only real negative thing about ported guns is... Lose velocity, big opening that allow stuff to get in your barrel(yeah like the muzzle) and they are much louder then non-ported.
Are they needed, no not really but they do what they wear designed to do. Can't speak for after market, but Glock did well in their design of the 'c' models.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.
