    Ak Pistol Question

I've searched for my answer, however I'm on mobile and I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

I have an ak pistol and would like to put a sig brace on it, however I have long arms and to use the brace I would need an increase in length of pull.

Therefore I was going to go with installing a buffer tube and the SB15.

This brings me to my question. Is it CA legal to install a folding hinge on the pistol so that I can fold for easier storage?

I understand that for a rifle there needs to be overall length requirements to have a folding stock.

I was wondering if you're allowed to have a folding brace on a pistol or would that be a gray area that I shouldn't touch.

I prefer the ak platform over the ar platform for most philosophies of use, and would like to have a shorter barrel version.

This is the only way that I can use the brace feature, being well over 6 feet tall.

Any suggestions would help, I would a definitive answer or a link if this has already been answered.

    THANKS CALGUNS !

I suppose no one has replied to this thread yet because there is no definite answer, at least in California.
Multiple threads about sig brace on AR pistols seem to reflect no DEFINITE answer, the issue is not be any more clear on AK pistol, regardless of a folding component to brace.
You can probably find someone on the internet to support whatever it is you want to do, but the landscape kinda looks like this...
    1. Do not do it. No risk. No Gray area.
    2. Do it, may carry some risk of being charged with having SBR or AW in California.
    3. Get approval of design as AOW from ATF with presumably some decreased risk, at least of SBR charges
    4. Leave California. Seems you'd be OK unless the ATF changes its position on Brace

Doing this will run afoul CA SBR laws.

Unless you make the AK Pistol into a Title 2 AOW, then it would be legal under Federal and CA laws.
However making it into a Title 2 AOW, requires BATFE approval.
