    Sig X5 magazines question

    Hey guys
If I already have Sig 226 magazines, will they fit any Sig X5? Including the ones with the magazine funnels?

    Thanks in advance.

They will, but the funnel makes them more difficult to seat.

        I ended up...

        1) buying the standard X5 mags and having them sent to my high-cap FFL
        2) purchasing mag blocks
        3) having them installed by my FFL

What a pain and expense, but now I have the standard
        X5 mag format.

Which X5 do you have and which mag blocks did you get?

Some models have an added part to guide the magazine into the magwell that I referred as the "funnel".
See the difference between the X5 Competition and the X5 Tactical:

I'm working with magazineblocks.com on some of these issues. They already make an X5 magazine block but it is for a different magazine that the ones that come with the X5s now, or at least than the ones my x5 came with. (Mine look like the ones available on the sig website). If you order the P226 10/20 blocks then add a .25" spacer to the bottom of them you should be good to go assuming you have the follower that does not extend downward and the mecgar 17 round bodys with with extended +2 baseplate.

Not that I have not fired it yet with this configuration but the 10/20 blocks alone are not long enough.

Another option would be to just purchase magazines here:

Are these the old style x5 magazines? The ones with the Mecgar branding on the side?

And these are the new style mags shipping with the X5?

I checked out the website mentioned above and was wondering if I could purchase the basepad and 10rd limiter and use them with the Mec-gar 18rd mags? To convert from 18rds to 10rds.

Also, I wanted something cleared up.

So Mec-gar makes a 18rd magazine with the flush basepad. And there is a +2 extension you can add on to make it a 20rd.

The X5 mags that shipped with the guns hold 19rds. The x5 mags that have the Mec-gar branded bodies hold 18rds and the OEm silver basebad Sig Sauer adds-on is a +1?

Do the 20rd Mec-gar magazines break down like an x5 magazine? It has a different magazine insert like the one shown here?

Yes they will work. Its a pain if you have the jet funnel on there and are trying to do a fast bag change.

As mentioned the standard P226 mags will fit the X5 models. The old style X5 models such as the X5 Comp and L1 models with the funneled magwell will fit but since the magwell is not removable it makes it very impractical to feed the standard mags.

The new X Series or X5 enhanced models allow you to easily detach the magwell with an Allen wrench so it makes using the Standard mags extremely easy.

I think the one currently listed on magazine blocks is for the mec-gar 18 rd magazines with 2rd extension, these magazines have a longer follower that will run into the block sooner. (I don't think these ever shipped with X-fives but I could be wrong?)

The magazines that came with my X5 L1 are Mec-gar 17 rounders w/ 2rd baseplate, they do not have any anti tilt type thing on the follower.

The ones shipping now looks like they say Sig on them (if picture is correct).

Call TRT to find out exactly which baseplate you need for your particular magazine.

Do you know if I can change the magwell easily (And where to get one) for my L1? I'm really regretting getting the older L1

I have an X5 Lightweight. I ended up getting 10/18s, but you really need 10/19s (which don't exist as far as I can tell)

You could always get the 10/20 blocks and file them down, unless you have followers like mine for my 19 rounders, then they will still be too short.
