Great question, that 715 is a beautiful revolver. My friends back east love theirs!

I believe 1 or 2 Calgunners were able to SAE or SSE one earlier this year. They're pretty nice, but not sure they're actually worth the price tag.

You mean Single Action exemption. SAE is not the same as SSE.

If it's just a strut or hammer dog removal similar to Ruger DA revolvers then it's an easy conversion.

I'll just leave this here. 1981, original owner, $219 out the door.

Good luck, please post what you find.

Personally I would skip the small frame DW revolvers and stay with s&w. I sold my two small frame DWs in favor of s&w. Now the supermag series are a nice

                  Any help is appreciated.

                  Thanks,
Pretty much any DA revolver can be modified to SA only - new Smiths are a breeze, the DA sear isn't pinned to the hammer but rather uses a geometric drop in fit. If you can do "Lincoln Logs" you can do the conversion. Older Smiths require tapping out a pin, Colt the same but a bit tougher to execute. My memory is a bit rough on Ruger DA revolvers, have only a few, but I ca't imagine they're all that different.

Regarding the DW Model 15, the DA sear is easily removable. Just remove the sideplate, do as much disassembly as is needed to get to the DA sear & remove and reassemble. I've had a few DW Model 15 revolvers, for some reason the transfer bar spring gave me some fits. I always got things back together, just with a touch of aggravation at not having a 3rd hand to hold on to things.

OC Armory in Laguna Hills did mine earlier this year. Smooth and easy transaction.

Yes, It's a sweet shoot. My only issue is the I need to replace the front sight. Dark rear sight and dark front are hard on sight picture for me. (indoor ranges).

                      But it shoots very nice.

I don't have any experience with the original DW's but I'm glad I got one.

Jimvh2, did your DW 715 had to be SAE'd or SSE'd? I know it depends on different revolvers. If it was SAE'd OP can just wait till next year and focus on other handguns to SSE in the mean time.

                          SAE - Single Action Exempted.

Is the SAE still going to be good in 2015?
