    Glock G34 competition front sight

    For the warren tactical front sight, did you use .215 or .245 front sight? Warren website suggest .245. Did a google search and many users on forum said they are fine with .215. I am confused??

    Is that true;
    For .215, line of sight=point of impact at 10 yards

    For .245, line of sight=point of impact at 25 yards

    would depend on distance you most shoot at.

      No. Most shots in USPSA and IDPA are at 3 to 15 yards, but you can go out to 35 yards or more. You also want to zero at 40 yards so anything closer won't matter. Typically front sight height is caliber dependent and not barrel length (velocity) depedent, ie, the change for the same load in a G26 versus a G17L is less important than caliber. A .45acp needs a taller front sight for the same rear height because of the trajectory difference. I run the .215" front on my G19,G17,G34 and G17L and they all zero at 40 yards, the G17L is about 1.5" high. Now the nice thing is if you buy the sight set from Warren, and it does not meet your required point of aim/impact for your particular load, ie, 115's shoot flatter than 147's or 160's, Warren will send you a different front sight at no charge. They have more choices than just .215"/.245" Of course if you are low at 25 yards, putting on a taller front sight will only make it even lower. I run the wide cut rears on my Glocks.

        I have the Warren Tactical rear and Dawson FO front, .215 I believe, on my 34. I like that combo. I have rarely shot further than 15 yards at a match.

          It depends on the ammo (weight/velocity) and the shooter, so there's not really a blanket answer for everyone. I have a. 255" Dawson front (Sevigny rear) on my GEN 4 G34 & it works perfect for the ammo I load. However, if I loaded up some 130pf gamer ammo, the POI would definitely change. If you don't plan on using the same ammo all the time, you might consider an adjustable rear. If not, I'd start with the. 245

            What's your load? And maybe the .245" is for the Gen4, never thought of that. True, what zeros out for one shooter may not be the same for another.

              Thanks for all the inputs. I don't reload and I mainly shoot 115gain factory ammo.

                I don't think it has anything to do with GEN 3 vs GEN 4, I think it just depends on the shooter & the ammo. I did a TON of digging around for info before I bought the .215 front, but it ended up not working for me. I used Dawson Precision's calculator to estimate the proper height front (after testing it at 25yds).

                OP, since you shoot factory 115's, I'll retract my recommendation for the .245. I'd start with the .215, test it at 25-40yds, and use DP's front sight calculator to correct any difference in your desired POI. The faster rounds tend to like the shorter front. My G20 is another good example. I shoot a 180gr JHP @ 1250fps , so the .215 is perfect. When I was shooting .40 out of it in USPSA Limited (180gr @ 950fps), I needed a .255 front for it.

                  Thanks for the pointer. I will refer to Dawson formula in the future if I shoot high at 20 yards with .215 front sight.

                  Wow shooting is man, machine and science!
