    SD9VE metal guide rod question

There's a popular metal guide rod to replace the plastic version. I have heard good things and bad things. The people who enjoy them seem to have replaced other parts. Anyone have an opinion?

If you are looking for a guide rod to make it easier to replace the recoil spring, it would be a upgrade that would make it easier to do. Aside from that, it will help add weight to the firearm which will decrease the recoil pulse, but aside from that, there is no purpose to switch from a polymer guide rod to steel one.

Mine's bone stock and so far so good. My opinion is if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you where trying to hot rod some race gun like a 1911bushing to barrel fitting for accuracy or a lowered and flared ejection port for better ejection I'd say sure, but this won't really do much for the SD9VE. If anything the apex trigger kit will make it a much softer cleaner pull.
