Sig X-five followers

Anyone have a picture of the proper follower that comes with the X-five L1 magazines (I think stock they are 19rd magazines?).

Is this one correct? It does not look like it has any anti-tilt properties?


Second are there any issues with these followers?

If this is not the correct follower can someone tell me where I can purchase the correct one? The stock X-five magazines are supposed to be marked 17rds right?

The followers are the same as other P226 magazines made by Mec Gar. The X-Five magazines just have different basepads from other P226 magazines made at the same time.

For an L1, I'd bet you want the first link, but it really depends when it was made. If you guess wrong it will be really obvious as the springs are different and the follower won't fit.

Those look nothing like the followers that came in the X-five.
My X-five's magazine is marked 17 rounds, but it had the extended baseplate making it 19rds. The spring is tapered in the magazine. The follower is labled mecgar but does not look like either of the ones above. Perhaps the previous owner messed with the magazines to make them run better. Are you sure they are no different from other magazines because I can't find mecgar mags marked up to 17 rounds anywhere, only 18 rounders and 20 rounders.

My FFL had trouble blocking the magazines so I was going to buy the expensive blocking kit from TRT (about $50 each to block them).

At this point I'm not sure if it is even worth trying to block the magazines. I believe I would need to replace the followers (not sure which of the above ones to buy so I guess I would need to buy them both) + shipping I think I'm looking at about $75 per mag to block them.

Guess I got screwed on this deal. Might as well leave the mags at the FFL and give up on them.

X-five is already frustrating the crap out of me and I'm regretting buying it.

Doesn't appear your issue is related to the gun; sounds like you need to find a better FFL.

I picked up my new X5E over the weekend and I spent a total of 15 minutes there for both the DROS and pickup. I didn't have to do any of the legwork myself because my FFL is competent (MP Arms in case you were wondering).

Well, according to the diagram in the manual it looks like I have the correct follower.



It looks exactly like the one shown as #70 without any kind of anti tilt stuff sticking down. Are you guys sure I have teh wrong follower? I have been told that by TRT and magblocks that they have never seen a follower like the one I have. Yet there it is right in the manual?

Wow, interesting. Your X5 mags are quite different internally then mine.

It seems at some point they changed the spring and the follower to use a different design.

If you decide that you really hate your X5 then I'll gladly take it off your hands

I do understand about the costs though. Nothing about the X5 platform is cheap, but they shoot so well that I don't mind emptying my wallet.

If all you need is the parts so that your FFL can block the mags before giving them to you then I would recommend that placing a properly cut piece of coroplast in the magazine inside the loop of the spring would do that job. You can find sheets of coroplast in most craft stores for very cheap (<$5).

Measuring the proper length for the coroplast could be a pain though, You'd want to start long then reduce it until only 10 fits.

I don't think those will work, the FFL used their 10/18's and said you can still fit an extra 4-5 rounds in. So if the 10/20 block is only 2 rounds taller, it's likely I would still be able to fit in 2 too many. (htats a different follower than the one that came in my mags that has a hollow base.

The problem is the spring tapered I think. If you did that the base of the coroplast would still be able to tilt around which could cause the mag to change capacity. I mean you could probably cut the coroplast tapered and that would help but wouldn't it still be able to move side to side a bit, or cause the spring to bind up?

The coroplast is a hack so that your FFL can legally release the 10 round mags to you. You are right that it will probably cause malfunctions long term.

I just run standard 10 round p226 Sig mags most of the time anyways. You don't want to drop the expensive X-Five mags during rapid reloads.

They are hard to load though because they would seat inside the magwell, not flush with the bottom. I guess the jet funnel magazine extension could be removed if you really wanted to.

The parts have been discontinued, so finding them would not be easy, but it can work.

Personally, I just removed the magwell.
