    SSE recommendations, or non

So I see how everybody seems to be consumed with getting all of their SSEs in before the deadline. There are a few off roster guns I'm interested in getting my hands on too. However, I've also noticed some off roster guns currently being bought in droves. My question is, is there any consensus which of the SSE guns one can safely avoid getting now with a high likelihood of still being able to pick up as a PPT in the future? Thoughts?

I'm not really caught up in the whole SSE thing. I am however picking up my SR1911 ruger soon but that's it.

No. Not a single gun. Especially the Gen 4 Glocks. They will never meet the new rules.

Times wasting. Get a SSE or 3 now.

Should be a ton of Gen 4 Glocks and HK VP9s available for ppt next year.

OP, no on the consensus question.

The bottom line is that next year there is no SSE and people will think really hard before selling an off roster handgun knowing that it can no longer be easily replaced. And if they do sell, it will be at a premium.

If there's some off roster gun you have an eye on, get them before the end of the year.

A ton of VP9's? I think you are greatly misjudging the VP9 threads on calguns if you think that many VP9's will have been DROS'd by the end of the year. And your assuming that "a ton" of VP9 owners will be dumping their new VP9's knowing how difficult it would be to replace.

I can see the Gen 4 Glocks because they have been out in the market for a while but again, people will tend to think twice before selling guns they can no longer purchase new in CA.

No im judging by the ridiculous number of Vp9s waiting to be dros'd at my FFL, or how quickly another FFL sold a ton in a few days. People are not just buyin one.

I completely agree with the first part. However, with regards to the VP9 you already have people trading them for other guns. I think unless people have multiples why would you sell a gun you can't replace.

I would be careful doing an SSE on any Rugers. You will basically be left with a gun with no warranty.

VP9s are the hot thing now so there might be some that show up as ppt. However, if there is something off roster that you want I would sse it to assure myself of getting it. Otherwise you are just hoping for ppt or the end of the roster to get what you want. I'm not taking a chance.
