    Inside the PPQ Grip

I decide to try a different backstrap on my PPQ. I was a bit surprised to see the space for the "transponder" and the additional serial number etchings.

Since I haven't seen anyone post this before, here ya go.

I have no problem with it. Some of my other pistols have space for RFID tags. They just seem more low key about it.

Required or optional in some European countries, AFAIK no transponders on PPQs on this side of the pond.

Yeah, well documented when they first came out. It's for Euro countries that require it. I wouldn't worry unless someone States side finds one in their PPQ.

It's not going to give more information than what is printed on the outside of the gun. Although it could be used to scan someone for a hidden firearm, just like a wand.

They're only effective within a few inches of the scanner. So, even if it's in there, no worries. Same technology as what they put in your pet dog to scan him when he shows up at some animal shelter or vets office.

I'm a fan of Sig Sauer, but I'd rather take an empty transponder cavity versus cheap UID stickers that peels after a couple of thorough cleanings.

I had no idea my gun had those "features". The grip fit well out of the box so I probably wouldn't have ever known that. I should call Walther cs and complain that my M2's transponder is missing
