Glock conversion barrel question

I want to put the lone wolf conversion barrel on my Glock G22 40 to 9 and read that I need to change the extractor to a 9mm extractor, my question is will that extractor work on my 40? Or do I have to switch both parts each time? I want to run both calibers frequently...

It should not be necessary unless you are running really low recoiling 9mm. The conversion barrels and magazines should be good enough to run within reasonable reliability. Even so, I would run the firearm in the caliber it was designed in for self defense.

I just put the barrel in and it runs, I did get some 17 mags for when I use the 9MM barrel

The bore in Lone Wolf 9MM conversion barrels is drilled a little off-center so that the .40 ejector will work. Since the Glock pistols use the same extractor and recoil spring assembly for the 9MM and .40, no need to change anything but the barrel and magazine. .40 mags won't retain 9MM rounds. You may experience some extraction and feed stoppages, or you may not, YMMV. As Dattebayo has already said, it might not be the best to rely on a pistol with a conversion barrel as a defensive firearm; I certainly would not consider it anything but a range toy.

If you contact LW... they actually recommend a lighter main spring with their conversion barrel, and nothign else. A buddy did that and used 9mm in his G22 for 5k+ rounds without issue.

The extractors are not the same between a 40S&W and 9mm, neither are the ejectors. Recoil spring assemblies are 17lbs for both.

I stand corrected on the extractor, they are different part numbers. The ejector difference is not material to this question as LW offsets the bore so that the .40 ejector will work. The .40 extractor will still extract 9MM rounds.
