    Off Roster Handguns

So I have some off roster guns I want to sell but they all have standard capacity mags. In the past, the mags were broken down and sold as parts but California just shut that down. I could sell them without the mags but then how would the buyer perform the irrelevant gun handling check. I guess blocking the mags would be a solution but what if the buyer backs out? I don't want to be stuck with blocked mags. Man, it's so hard being a law abiding citizen.

The FFL can do the safe handling check when the buyer picks up. So DROS the gun and once you have the $$ in your hand, mail the buyer the blocked mags. Irritating, but not that big a deal.

That's the buyer's problem as long as you state no mags. Or you can block just one. If buyer A backs out, you'll likely need one for buyer B. If Buyer B is an LEO, then "Man do I have a deal for you!".

Could you list them as parts and packaged separately?

"gun includes 2 magazine bodies, two springs, 2 followers...."

Or are individual parts a capital crime now as well.

Just block them with wooden dowels.

I would buy a ten round mag to include with each gun I wanted to sell, and price accordingly. The prospective buyer will understand, and probably appreciate not having to hunt for one before shooting it.

I'll probably post it without mags. Seems to be the easiest way.

It is not illegal to lose or find magazines of any capacity.

                    Just and observation.

That sounds more like a suggestion.

I would plug them with a wood plug and some hot-glue. The buyer can replug it to his satisfaction afterwards.

It's difficult to sell a gun without mags and at least one mag is needed to do the safe handling test.

you could but you could also become a court test case.

just block them and sell them.

                          Absolutely not my intent.

I was simply making and observation. If you lost a 5round magazine and someone found it, would you or the person that found it have committed any crime?

It might be classified as a conversion kit. It was banned last year.

In context, there is no possibility of 'finding' a mag.
