Me personally, I would go with the Elite Dark. I love the feel of the aluminum grips and would prefer the adjustable night sights.

I really don't think you can go wrong with either of those choices.

Don't worry about what others think, buy the one you like. Its a P226, you're getting a great pistol either way.

I have shot one before and it was awesome, but it was a 9mm.

Is there even any difference between the two? Maybe the ergo's on the grip?

seein if anyone has shot both and can see or feel a difference.

True. You can't go wrong with either one.

Have you considered other brands or are you set on a P226?

The Elite dark is nice but the rear sight is ****. I had a ED 220 for a while and had nothing but problems. GGi does make a alternative though.

If appearance is what you're after, the aluminum grips are pretty. Otherwise, either one is nice.

Its not necessarily appearance at all, just want THE BEST quality even though i know they are all good.

I have regular P226 .40 which is my home defense piece and the elites are enhanced P226 .40 so I'm sure they are a little better or a lot better than regular one.

I went with the extreme 226 for the night sights and the g10 grips. Probably my favorite gun.

So for the elite dark since its not CA compliant, I have to private party SSE or will an FFL do the SSE for me?

and also, on your p226 extreme,

notice how the external extractor is much much longer than the one on the elite dark?

thats interesting, wonder what the benefit of doing that is

If budget is not an issue, P226 X Five Comp, which is still on roster till 4/2015.

                              It is an interesting choice.

On a personal level, I don't like the adjustable rear sight on the Elite, but I really like the aluminum grips.

On the Enhanced Elite, I really dislike the E (squared) grips, because they cause you to grip lower.

If I had to choose between these two, I'd get the Enhanced Elite and add aluminum, or G-10, grips from Hogue.

My personal preference in the 226 family is the 226ST in 357SIG...mostly because I don't like the feel of SIG's beavertail and I don't need the SRT
