    CCW and SSE?

I read somewhere that someone had an issue using a SSE weapon for their CCW. I was thinking about buying something off roster should Kamala Harris's appeal fall on it's face.

I read the issue is that the DROS and registration show the handguns as having a barrel length of 10", and thus will not be suitable for CCW?

I was thinking to maybe get an off roster shield for CC but it would be pointless if I was denied the ability to CC it the future due to barrel length.

Anyone have anymore info on this?

Or ask your IA since policy varies.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, but do it first.

This has been discussed at length in the LTC section. Depending on your IA, the stumbling block for some has been the caliber recorded on the DROS. I have a XDM and XDS (both SSE) on my San Berdoo county LTC but both were DROS'd as the proper caliber.

Depending on the FFL you use, they may use a .25 caliber barrel, in which case, they DROS it as .25 caliber. Attempts to send in a form to CalDOJ to correct the caliber issue have not been successful as DOJ simply returns the form and uncashed check.

My IA doesn't care about barrel length. They only care that the make, model, serial and caliber of the gun they run matches what comes back from the data base.

I should have known we would have a LTC forum.

And now you do, so I'll close this one, and folks can read over there.

But the correct answer was in posts 3 and 6 - Issuing Agencies get to decide.
