    Keeping my pistol loaded

I wanted to know your thoughts on fully loaded mags for a home defense pistol. How many mags do you keep loaded everyday, how many rounds do you load it with (10rd mags), and do you rotate out the mags to keep the springs from wearing out?

I keep all mags loaded. I use all of them each range trip w/ ball ammo, then reload back w/ HD ammo before I leave blm or public range.

I keep 2 10 round magazines loaded, one in the gun, I prefer to keep them loaded since cycling the magazine is what causes wear(a properly designed spring can be compressed then left forever without degradation, but cycle it and you get wear).

I do take it out and shoot it at least once a month.

How many mags do you keep loaded everyday? 2 (That should get me to the Shotgun)

How many rounds do you load it with? (10rd mags) Ummm, 10 Is this a trick question?

Do you rotate out the mags to keep the springs from wearing out? NO
Leaving a mag loaded doesn't wear a spring out.

G23/180gr HST w/ std. cap mags.
                - One(1) in the chamber
                - 2xTwelve(12) loaded - one in the well.

Twenty-Five ready rounds/pistol. Break them down for inspection/cleaning annually.
(I have a few 10-rounders I use for the range.)

P.S. I would download (-1) a 10-rounder as well. Nineteen ready rounds is fine by me.

HD 1911: 10+1 in the gun, with 8 10-rounders loaded in the rig. Carry M&P: 17+1 in the gun with 2 17-rounders on my person for spares, and 3 loaded 17-rounders in the "ready safe." AR: 29 rounds in mag in gun, nothing in chamber. 8 mags loaded to 29 rounds in the rig. About 10 29-round mags stocked away in various places around the house and truck.

Yeah, it's great to live in a free state now.

I usually under load the two mags for my primary HD but one in the chamber and keep 2 fully loaded mags for the others on standby as well as a fully loaded shotgun.

As mentioned, keeping them loaded will not "wear" them out. They should be going to the range with you as someone else mentioned and get cycled and then reloaded. For my carry pistols, when I strip and clean the firearm, that includes stripping and cleaning the mags because they WILL collect lint.

1 in the chamber all... sigh, 10 rounds loaded...

The one I have in the chamber is marked(for setback) with a red sharpie, once the entire box is marked I take them to the range to shoot them.

Every firearm in my home is loaded, chambered, safety on (if equipt)

Every mag in my home is loaded to capacity - Except for that crappy old metal 5.56 drum that I cant get working....

Do you jack your car up every weekend, so you can keep the springs from wearing out?

Springs do not wear out from sitting for long periods of time under compression. They wear out from constant compression and release.

All mags loaded for both my pistols and my rifle.

Loaded at all times otherwise it is a paperweight.
If revolver it is sitting on a empty chamber.
If semi-auto, one in the chamber.
