Sig 227 Owners: SRT Trigger or...

My Sig 227 was recently released from jail and it's only been to the range once (so far) but the trigger is the stiffest of any gun in my collection. Love the gun. Hate the trigger. So...

    Does yours have this issue?
Did you - or - do you plan to add the SRT kit?
Would you get the Action Enhancement Package from Sig?

Ive never shot a sig with the short reset trigger but I can tell you I hate the short reach trigger. it totally switches the pivot point of the pull and sets you up to pinch the flesh in your trigger finger. depending on your hand size/finger length you may wanna look into either the gray guns trigger which is intermediate and the standard old style fat sig trigger. might as well get the srt done while its there because everything Ive read says its a must have upgrade.

dry fire the hell out of it. This is especially true with newer sigs with MIM parts. Pull the trigger at lease 5k times and it will get better.

Thanks for reminding me about Greyguns! They also offer some finish options too. Might be worth the wait. Looks like about 5-6 months if I get the slide done at the same time.

I've been doing dryfire drills every night. My frickin finger is about to fall off! Racking the slide a few times every 20rds or so, gives me a moment of relief.

I haven't shot my 227 yet. How would you compare the recoil to a 1911? Did you enjoy shooting it? I'm sure it's accurate it's a sig so i won't ask about that.

Agree 100%. I definitely prefer the traditional fat Sig trigger to the new short reach trigger. I think on the P227, the short reach trigger was installed, along with the E2 grips (which I also don't like) so that the package would be accessible to people with smaller hands.

I tried the short reach trigger on my P226mk25 as well as the Short Reset Trigger:

I have since gone back the standard trigger as the short trigger was uncomfortable.

The Short Reset Trigger is an unbelievable improvement for follow up shots/ double taps etc.. GET IT!

Definitely get the SRT. I usually change out the hammer springs to 18#, which I'll do with my P227 as well.

My P226 Enhanced Elite has the SRT trigger. It's lovely. I recommend.

                    SRT trigger all the way.

reset is really short, and the pull is very smooth. I don't plan on ever going back to the standard sig triggers.

When I had mine, I put in a standard trigger and a SRT kit.... wasn't a fan of the "short" trigger that comes in the 227.

Same as most people here, I put in the "regular trigger" and Short Reset Trigger in all my sigs

Also, all my sigs came from the factory with a heavy pull, after about 1000 rounds and tons of dry firing, they are now all buttery smooth and light. DA comes in around 7lbs and SA around 3.5-4lbs

My last 1911 was Springfield Champion. Nice little gun but it was snappy. It's not a fair comparison. It's night and day from what I remember of the Champion. I also have Glock 30SF and 21SF. The 30 is also more snappy while the 21 shoots softer. The 227 is even more comfortable. Recoil is very manageable. It shoots softer and is much easier to hold on target. I credit this to my hand position on the grips. It feels more natural. I love the grips. Didn't expect that. I'd like to say the 227 is similar to a 226 with +P ammo but I haven't done that yet. It's very similar to my 220 EQ Carry which does not have good grips (IMHO) with the stock wood. I think the wood actually transmits more felt recoil.

Any local SoCal Sig gunsmiths you guys can recommend? I know I can drop in the parts easily but I'm not sure I want to void my warranty at this early stage.

I'm still waiting for my "SHIPPED" email on those 227 mags. I got approved 8/20. I have a feeling they'll come delivered by an overweight bearded guy in a red suit.
