My last SSE: HK VP9 or cz97

Torn apart as the hk vp9 would be a carry/range/competition gun while the cz97 is just to replace my 1911's as they are now safe queens. The cz97 will be just a range gun and more than likely a carry as well. Thoughts? Brian Nussbaum up here in the bay area had 3 in stock a few weeks ago when I called. I am really leaning towards the 97 vs the vp9 as I already have a shield in 9mm and really hate polymer striker fired guns.

The cz97 will go to cgw for the works just like my 75b did and my sp01.

The other toss up which I would probably include into the last sse is a gem 4 glock 17. I know I know, not a fan but never shot a glock and id like to see what all the talk about is on glocks. I love manual safety's and I'd give up one preference just to have that I own a glock, when I do purchase one.

So you hate polymer striker fired guns but your torn on getting the polymer striker fired VP9.

I think you know the answer to your question.

Better grab a 97B before they're gone. I haven't seen any stock online for awhile, although GAG had one for a minute, oos now.

I just don't get the VP9 hype? What is so special about this gun that has everyone lining up to SSE them? It's not a good looking gun. some of the reviews I've seen say it has a decent trigger and pretty accurate and seem to compliment it on it's price. But with SSE, the price isn't all that great. What am I missing?

HK produces good products, but I believe the vp9 is all hype. Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't pick up a vp9, but I'd go with the cz...

Jealous? Here is why I got one.. I wanted to SSE another polymer striker fired gun, I've owned 4 Glocks, have a XDM in jail right now. At the end of the day, I was willing to pay $60 more for a HK than a Gen 4 Glock.

and his other toss up is a gen 4 glock 17.

not sure I get your logic. it seems like cz would be the choice for you.

Not really Hype... just something new, with the HK name and quality, and seriously a small amount more $$ than a Glock. None of my local SSE shops have Gen 4 17 in stock right now.. so if I pay $539 online, then pay $100 transfer/SSE vs $599 for the HK.... that makes the HK a compelling investment. Go watch Larry Vickers on YouTube regarding the VP9.

Got to agree, why are you even considering the VP9 or G17 if you know you hate striker fired handguns.
This is a classic case of buying into the hype. But more then that, and OP this is not directed at you. Just a true fact when it comes to a lot of people on this board or any other gun board.
Most here have only the very basic of experience with handguns. Most of it spent shooting static at an indoor range. Their emotion and egos are spouted off about how good or bad a gun is, when in reality they have very little practical knowledge of what they speak of.
The one thing you can always count on is, nothing is as good or bad as it's made out to be.
If you know you'll like the CZ better, sounds like a no brainier.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

I own a few polymer striker fired guns, but an all steel hammer or wheel gun guy. I mean, I love my m&p shield and it has seen 2k+ reloads. My ruger sr9 has seen 4 to 5k rds.

if it came to the bottom line, I'd much rather carry a polymer striker fired gun than a steel gun that weights another leg.

So to speak, I just put the vp9 with brian on hold tomorrow but this thread will definitely be my decision maker. Since, I have not seenbthe 97b in stock in awhile. Brian only has the 97bd which I hate decockers even though I own an old sw 915 with decocker. Thing is not fun to use ergonomically.

Coming from a glock 17 username I beleive like most of the others posted. I am set on the 97bd. Might just get both and forget the g17.
