XD Magazine eject

I'm a little embarrassed asking this, but here goes. I picked up an XD 9mm a few months ago. I'm really happy with the gun. shoots straight and fits my hand really well. I consider this my go to gun, so it's in the safe, on the rack and ready to go. When I take it to the range, I swap out the magazine, because I don't shoot the hollow points at the range. For some reason, when I hit the magazine eject it takes two hands, and difficult to eject.
At the range, when I finish a magazine, slide locks back, the magazine ejects no problem. I think it has to do with the back strap safety, but I'm not sure.
Am I missing something?

It's a known quirk of XDs while my 45 doesn't take two hands it is a little rough. It's my understanding it loosens up a bit over time.

It will loosen up...you can push up on the bottom of the seated mag as you hit the mag release button....some also load 1 less round until broken in.

my XD45 was also somewhat difficult when 'dropping a full mag'. after putting quite a few rounds down the pipe and also lubricating the crap outta the mag release spring (inside the mag well) it softened up some.

I think that the mag swells when fully loaded. That's why they are hard to drop free. I know 40 cal mags loaded with 9mm ammo does this.

I just bought an XDM and the mag release took two thumbs one on top of the other to depress the mag release button. I knocked out the button and polished the angled camming surfaces on the button where it contacts the latch and also lightly buffed the outside of the button that contacts the frame. Huge difference, sliky smooth and 1911 like.

Now just have to figure out why it keyholes.

Xds same way, as well. If I need to eject a full mag, I give the bottom a slap

^^^ My XDs drops full mags just fine. I use it as a carry gun, and always drop the mag and clear the gun before it goes in the safe for the night. I have never noticed an issue when dropping full mags.
