Taurus Judge anybody?

Boy is it lame that I cannot walk in to a gun store and just buy a Taurus Judge in CA. I backpack alot and I think the Judge would be the perfect back country/survival pistol.

Having said that, do I have any option besides PPT from somebody who happened to move to CA who owns one and wants to sell? I don't troll the handgun for sale forums often enough to beat somebody else to the sale I fear, but if that's the only way then I guess I'll have to.

You can't have a judge in CA.

You won't find one for sale in CA.

Wasn't 10% firearms selling them but it had about a 6 month wait and you had to get a firearms trust.

yes, there is the AOW option, but I doubt people want to add $500 to the cost for a piddly .410. now, had Taurus been able to import the 28ga Judge, I would have been all over that.

What I really want but can't have is the S&W Governor (same concept, just made by S&W instead of Taurus).

My brother just moved to WA this week and the Governor is going to be his first purchase. Can't wait to visit him and see what it's like to live in a free state! The Governor, standard capacity mags, no stupid bullet button..... Now I need to convince him to get some suppressors!

If they were legal, that would be one of my very first purchases. They look perfect for defense and very practical.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought it was illegal to even have one in CA (excluding certain permits). Did you mean he moved here and left a judge behind and wants to sell it?

Personally I don't get it. I think it is one of those things were demand is high because there is no supply.

ok, you would need to find an 07/02 outside of CA (good thing we know one) that would be willing to convert the Judge into an AOW (the 2 ways that most people would do it would be to either put a VFG on it, or to make it a smoothbore (I don't know if reaming out the rifling would be acceptable to use, .410 down a .455 barrel might pattern poorly). Then, they could do a Form 3 to transfer it to another SOT (I wonder who that could be). At some point it would need to be made SAE (which then means that you could only SAE some of the Judge models, but not all) and then it could be transferred on a Form 4 to the buyer. but it appears that around the beginning of the year, the Trust option might be drying up just like the SSE option already is. So, with the Form 2 time, Form 3 time AND Form 4 time, I would not expect to get one in CA unless they Trust elimination plan gets 86'ed.

I liked the idea of having one but after watching hickok's video on YouTube it made me not care anymore. The range on it is very bad. Unless something is right on top of you, it's fairly useless. As a survival pistol it's probably garbage.
