A little bit underwhelmed by P226...

Hi guys, first I wanna say thank you for helping me choose between a PPK/S and a Mk25. I've decided to stay home and live on ramen for the next few months and get both, because who needs a social life 'mirite?

Anyways I rented a P226 at the shooting range today to get a feel of the gun before I DROS it next month. The DA shot was a little long, but comfortable because I could feel the trigger pushing my finger the whole time. The SA shots were just....weird for the lack of better words. It was light, almost resistance free, for the first 90%, then suddenly heavy for the last 10% right before the hammer drops. I ended up jerking a lot today while shooting the 226.

I've read that people who shoots 1911 get "spoiled" by the triggers. My first and most shot gun is a 1911, but it's just a normal SA mil-spec with no upgrade whatsoever. My question are 1) was it just the rental gun or are all DA/SA guns like that? 2) If its not the gun, any tips to help me adjust to shooting the 226?

    Sorry for the format, phone.

Would be interesting to know. For their pricetag, they better have sweet trigger pulls.

This is common on sigs. While it is obviously not as good as a 1911, it should not cause you to jerk

Thats why i don't have any p226 in the arsenal. Love the look and feel but HATE the trigger!

We shot a p220 (45cal) this last week at the range. Couldn't even hit target for 1st 5 shots at 10 yards... So weird.... Then shot every thing low and left and I mean LOW... Asked the range master and he gave me a hint on how to hold it.... Palm up so to speak when grabbing the grip... Vs all of my hand on the right like I do with others..

Yeah, we chose against it as the trigger and grip was just weird.... Good looking gun though for sure

Just about everyone shoots sigs way low the first time due to the funky "combat" sight picture. I have to change the sights out on all my sigs because I have the top-of-post sight picture engrained in my training.

I also do not like the standard factory trigger on sigs, but love them when they are upgraded to the SRT package. The DA/SA system definitely takes some dry practice to get used to.

Other than these two issues, which are easily remedied, Sigs are some damn fine pistols.

No not all DA/SA guns are like that, but many are, my HK USP Expert has a great DA/SA trigger, maybe just upgrade the trigger to something you like. I wonder how the DA/SA trigger is on the X-Five model.

Agreed....not rocket science. You should be able to pick up most pistols and be able to hit the 10 and 9 ring at 10 yards within 5 shots of familiarizing yourself

I swapped out the standard trigger with a SRT. It feels much better to me with the SRT.
