    Dating/Valuing PPK/S 380

OK, I'm trying to figure how to figure the info about my PPK/S
Side A: Left, Non-ejection port side
Side B: Right, ejection port side

Side A has the Walther Banner, over "Made in W. Germany" on the barrel end
over the trigger and grip is
    "Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm|Do.
    under that is
    Modell PPK/S Cal. 9mm kurz

Side B has the serial on the slide, to the left of the serial is a symbol that I cannot tell what it is, my eyes just arent that good, then it has the Interarms over Alexandria Virginia with the starburst at the barrel end

the barrel, the part you can see at the ejection port, has
74, then some symbol that looks like it could be an antler i have seen referenced elsewhere, then the symbol from the frame is next to that

the serial number is 183xxxS, the one on the slide has no trailing S

I've tried taking pictures of the symbols, but they just dont come out at all.

So, I'm trying to figure the date/location made, and an idea of value.

and no, its not a safe queen, no original docs or box

    thanks
here is the album with more pictures, maybe some will help

I have an Interstate Arms Walther from Germany myself. With the Interarms roll stamps, they are dated from 1978-85ish. They are valued around $600 if in good shooting and physical condition.

i've heard 78-85 also, which then makes me curious why the 74 stamped on the barrel
you can pretty much see the physical condition in the main pics, its used, holstered a lot (backup)
its a really good shooter, love it, my kids love it too, it will probably go down to my middle son, since he's named after my dad, and it came from him.

Well another thing to add is that Interarms also imported a few PPK's from Manurhin from France in the early 80's. This could be one of those, as even those the roll stamps say Made in Germany, they are indeed made in France, as Walther kept the same production equipment and manufacturing there.

PPK's weren't manufacture in Germany since 1968, so I doubt it is an original German model, albeit, they are still quality pistols. Regardless of where they were made, they were made with original German tooling and the PPKs from that era are generally quality pistols. They didn't really become unreliable till after Smith and Wesson started making them, which wasn't till after 2002.

Pricing wise, unless it is a pre-68 German Walther PPK, I haven't seen them going for more than $600. This is a huge increase in value as they were sold at $270 and under when they were brand new.

Your pistol was manufactured by Manurhin in France. It was then assembled in W.Germany and tested by Ulm in 1974 for import to the USA . The 74 is date tested and the antler figure is the Ulm test marking.
380 acp PPK/s serial number range.
            Manurhin. 134941-266310A. 06/55-10/85
            Walther. 800048-804970. 07/85-07/89

It is the Bundersrepublik Deutschland proof mark of a Federal Eagle over N.
The worth for your pistol without extras is around $500.
