Use last SSE for possible ccw?

I'm buying 1 more SSE before the end of the year and I'm thinking of getting a Sig p938 for future ccw. The problem is I live in L.A. county and there's no telling what their attitude will be towards SSE if/when they begin to issue. As of now, the only "compact" non SSE handgun i have is a kimber ultra CDP ii.

Would you take the chance and get a small gun anyway? Or buy something bigger (thinking about a p227 equinox or sphinx SDP) and worry about the small gun later?

If there's something off roster you want I would get it now. You could always sell it later if it didn't work out.

First: You're only buying 1 more SSE pistol before Jan. 1st? Why? lol
Second: I would definitely say get the 938.

I just picked up a vp9 and have an hk45c waiting in the 1 in 30. After i bought the hk45c I promised the wife only 1 more before the end of the year. She said "okay" so fast I instantly regretted not starting off at 3. Oh well.

The p938 is a popular gun so in the event that LA adopts a no SSE policy like other agencies then you could resell it and pick up something like a shield. There's also other possible loopholes to use if you need to clean the DROS up so it matches the current state of the gun. But who even knows when LA might more readily issue CCW permits. If you're not considering moving to a county that will more freely issue a CCW permit then I'd probably opt for the Sphinx or p227.

FYI, even in Ventura County with their CCW policy, they will not allow an SSE Pistol on the permit.

Just had that discussion with my FFL. Ventura Co. CCW & SSE = No Bueno.

Get something that was recently released and will become unobtaineum when SSE disappears. You can always get a small gun that's on the roster in the future. But you won't be able to get something that isn't on the roster. If it was recently released, that means they will be scarce and desirable when SSE goes away.

Guns like the Sig P320, HK VP9, and Glock 30s will be nearly impossible to get in the future and there will be very few in the state. The Sig P938 fits the bill too. Scarcity and demand fuel price levels higher. Don't get something that there's a bunch of in the state already.

If CCW ever comes to LA County, the P938 and G30s would work well for your own use. The Sig P320 Carry is too big IMHO and the P320 Subcompact isn't available yet.

Asking that question here is like asking a bunch of fat guys if we should open more chips.

But yeah. Get it. You'll always be able to sell a 938 - those are great guns.
