    SSE Planning

    I already have a full-sized M&P 9 and I have a VP9 on the way.

    Here are my objectives:
    1. Get the best factory gun I can get for under $1000 for use in potential USPSA Production or IDPA SSP competition.
    2. Get a 22LR good for target shooting.
    3. Get a 22LR good for introducing new shooters, young shooters, or shooters with small hands.
    4. Get a backup for the competition gun?

    Other peculiarities:
    • No Glocks or Ruger MkIII's. Don't like the way they feel.
    • I've got a real boner for CZ's and PPQ's right now.
    • Annual bonus will probably be nice, but won't get it until 12/15, but I'm out of town from 12/13-28.

Given the fast approaching deadline for SSE, here's my thinking:
    1. Buy a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow or CZ 75 Shadow SA/DA in 9mm, whichever I can get my hands on. They're pretty scarce right now. Prioritise on this and pick it up ASAP as finances allow.
    2. I've narrowed down my 22LR choices to: (1) Walther PPQ M2 22LR, (2) Ruger SR-22, (3) Sig Sauer 1911-22, and (4) Walther P22 5". This may satisfy objectives #2 and #3, but I may end up going with the PPQ or SR-22 to satisfy #2 and a P22 for #3. At any rate, if I miss the SSE window on these, I'm not too worried as I can still get the Sig Sauer 1911-22 or the P22 on-roster.
    3. If I still have the funds and can work out a way to DROS/SSE another 9mm right at the end of the year, I'd totally pick up one more... something. Maybe a PPQ M1 or M2 or another off-roster CZ.

    Thoughts?

Good luck with #1. You're better off getting anything into your hands right now and leave the exotics as plan #3.

What do you do if you can't find a Cz Sp01 shadow in stock for the next 3months?

i haven't seen a ppq 22lr for sse at all. i have a p22, and its fun to shoot, but really picky with ammo to the point of being frustrating. i recall hearing that the 5 inch target version runs better. for small hands, the p22 would be a much better choice than the ppq 22(if you could even find it).

i have the 9mm ppq and its awesome. they are fairly easy to get via SSE and you should snatch one and dros it asap, so that you have the rest of the year to get a high end CZ.

Get a non-Shadow SP-01 or 75 B (or B SA or BD), I guess. They seem to be a little easier to find.

Have you considered a sphinx instead?

As for a 22 I'd recommend a Buckmark. I've heard the M&P 22c is nice and eats all sorts of ammo. The problem you run into with off roster 22lr pistols is that they aren't that easy to SSE. Other calibers have have barrel inserts installed but that's not the case with 22lr. They often need a custom extended factory barrel and most FFLs aren't willing or able to do that.

              That's what I've found with 22lr's too.

I know that Baboosh can do a SR-22, as does Gun Effects in City of Industry. Riflegear does not.

From my correspondence with OC Firearms, it looks like they can SSE a 22lr PPQ.

If worse comes to worst, I'll just get an on-roster 22lr and not worry about it too much. There's a bit of a thrill getting an SSE gun, though, isn't there?

I just started my SSE run, hkp30s dros'd now, then ppq m1 in the batters box! Both at gun effects, Dennis hooked me up! Next prob be hk45 in FDE to go with the little bro in the safe already. Last 2, Chiappa rino? Fnx45tac? Ar pistol? Mini Draco? Mp core? Gen4 glock22? Sucks I need to panic buy, f@&$ it

Where do you look for them? Dealers? Auction sites?

Nice! Go for the PPQ M2. Love mine.

I've been planning my SSEs around
                      1. Pistols I've wanted
                      2. trying to capitalize on Mfg rebates (Free Sig Mags, $50 RIA rebate, Free SA Mags)
                      3. Availability of the FFLs.

All I know is that I'm done by 2nd week of December... forget waiting till the last few days, that will be super hectic for FFLs I'm sure!

This is a good place to look for a heads up on SP-01's popping up. A few people post them when they see them on sale.

I found mine through a post made here on Calguns.
