    Anyone have an RIA Compact?

Thinking about getting one for the $50 rebate.

    Anyone have one? Reliable?

Get it! It's a great deal. I don't personally have their compact one, but I do have the 9mm tactical and absolutely love it. They also have great customer service if you ever need it.

i have a compact and it's very nice. only problem is my rear sight slipping out (which they are going to take care of). no complaints otherwise!

I looked at one recently and liked it, have a full size Citadel (avatar). Also really liked the Colt Defender, CZ Wesson compact as well. They are all quite large compared to a shield, and all expensive except the RIA.
I think I'm going shield or xds for carry. <shrug>

Maybe get the RIA too and anyway, just to have, trick it out.

            Have a G26 and G19, plus a full size Colt 1911.

I love the 1911 platform..........just really wanting another to carry with my Glocks.

I had a RIA Officer's/Compact, but I sold it. Never any issues with the gun - IIRC it was malfunction-free. But I never shot it all that well - Nowhere near as well as I shoot my G36.

So if you shoot your G26 well but want to go to 45 ACP for carry, you might just go with a G36...

BTW: I shoot Government and Commander sized 1911's just fine. Just the Officer sized gun was not for me. Probably just a personal preference thing though.

                Well hell.

                DROS'd a RIA Compact.

$439 on sale at River City Gun Exchange.

                $513 OTD - $50 RIA Rebate....

$463 Final price out of pocket.

Not bad I think for a 1911 with a high rise beavertail and commander hammer. Feed ramp looked good and polished. Seemed tight. Trigger felt good.

                Hope it shoots strait.

Not as long as you understand what it is and is not.

A short barrel is hard to hit the broad side of a barn, and they are heavier than sin and not a CCW.

EDIT: Oh, and it'll shoot 'straight'. LOL

If you don't have another 1911 then get one, or even consider a full size one. They are really nice to shoot. I absolutely love mine, to the point where I'd consider a CCO as a carry. The 1911 trigger is an absolute delight, and the full size has similar recoil to a compact nine.

Never! You won't regret a great shooter for an awesome price. Others will hate because you didn't blow your entire wad on the gun and it will still be able to hang with more expensive guns.

I've got a Colt Combat Elite Government size

The RIA seems to be tighter and the trigger seems better somehow

My Colt has been pretty reliable with the right mags, though.

We'll see how good the RIA is in 10 days.

I see the rock is 35 oz.

Why are they so much heavier than their full size counterparts?

I think that's about as heavy as my Government model.

I've had a RIA Compact (officer) for a few years and it's been great. I carried it for a while, but have since replaced it as an every day carry gun. Right now it's taken apart for a CCO build I'm working on. All-in-all, it's been a great little gun and I would definitely recommend it.
