    SSE deadline

To rush for SSE deadline (12/31/14). Can I dros on 12/31/14? Or I must pick up the gun before 12/31??

I have 3 pistol sitting at my FFL waiting for dros. Don't know if I can add one more with my schedule.

    Thanks!

I haven't seen anything definitive on this yet, some think that only DROS must be started by the 31st, and others think that they must be picked up by the 31st. And what if someone DROS's by the 21st, but gets put on delay that last until after the first of the year, what about them?

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

When was the last time you did a DROS for anything? If possible, I wouldn't DROS in December after 12/21 just to be safe.

I started a thread on this subject a while back. Some FFL's plan on cutting off SSE DROS on the 21st and some will ride it out until the 31st.

Baboosh said he would file a ticket with the DOJ in hopes of getting an answer but I am not sure if he did.

Here is the thread I started in the FFL section: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=964276

I think the way the law reads, it will be illegal for dealers to transfer SSE guns beginning Jan 1, 2015 - here's the change:
However, Article 4 (commencing with Section 31900) and Article 5 (commencing with Section 32000) shall apply to a semiautomatic pistol that has been temporarily or permanently altered so that it will not fire in a semiautomatic mode.
32000 is the 'unsafe handgun' law -
              (a) Commencing January 1, 2001, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state for sale, keeps for sale, offers or exposes for sale, gives, or lends any unsafe handgun shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year.
That is, SSE guns are deemed 'unsafe' as of Jan 1, 2015.

That suggests that FFLs may not transfer them to non-exempt people unless the transaction is exempt from the Roster (PPT).

Given the way CA-DOJ has been interpreting things, I'd expect (whether affirmatively justified in law or regulation or not) SSE deliveries to be shut down cold in January.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Have you heard from the CA DOJ that it must be picked up by 12/31/2014? Prudent thing is to self impose it just to protect everyone involved in the transaction but I was wondering if there was any official confirmation. They'd probably respond by the 2nd of Jan though.

21st is a Sunday. Many FFLs won't be open, and many will close early on the 31st.

Come on folks...how do you think the CADOJ will interpret this? To the BENEFIT of gun owners trying to beat the SSE shutdown...or to the DETRIMENT of those same gun owners???

Just refer to the 03FFL+COE 1-in-30 exemption debacle for reference.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                      Come on...what harm??

DOJ will not advise on this. We're going with our attorney's advice.

To my knowledge the last day to SSE a pistol would be Dec 15,2014. Don't believe the DES will allow any entries past that date

DOJ will not put their answer in writing. Because of this we will not DROS after 11:59pm December 21st.

All people DROSing in December will be signing a waiver, if they are delayed and pickup is not till after December 31st they take full responsibility and we will not refund people for the guns. They'll have to sell them out of state. And we are getting A LOT of DROS delays right now.

Our worry is we have 100 guns January 1st we can never release. Our policy is going to be all guns must be picked up by December 31st 10:59pm. We'll spend New Years delivering peoples guns
