Smith Shield vs. M&P compact barrel?

I've got a Shield in 40. Great gun. I'd like to get a 9mm barrel for it, but can't find one anywhere. Can anybody tell me if an 9mm M&P compact barrel would fit/work in my Shield?

Also, if anyone has a line on 9mm Shield barrel, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I tried a Shield in 40S@W at the range ,,most impressive.

Looking at pics of the two barrels it does not look like they are even close to swappable.

As for finding a 9mm barrel for the shield- good luck with that. Been looking for one for a friend and haven't seen anything in over half a year. S&W has no incentive to sell any barrels either. Contacted them numerous times and they won't sell one.

They're still hot in the production runs for complete pistols, so there's not likely to be much chance of individual parts being readily available separately. So once they're satisfied they're meeting the demand for complete units we'll start to see parts become more easily available.

They would not work. Shield is a 3 inch barrel while the compact is a 3.5 inch barrel. Completely different barrel for both guns.
