What’s on the other side of the slide (any pics)? I know of some colt slides that have that similar stamping on the right side of the slide.
Here’s what I found is similar:
I need help ID-ing a Brasilian 1911 slide...this is how it reads...word for word...letter for letter... On the Left side (Slide Stop side) FÁBRICA DE ITAJUPÁ-BRASIL On the right side (Port side) EXERCITO BRASILEIRO Anyway thanks in advance By the way the serial is a 5 digit # that reads...

Exercito Brasileiro = Brazilian Army
Fabrica de Itajuba - Brasil = Made in Brazil
The manufacturer who made your slide may have evolved into Inbel or Taurus, two of Brazil's noted 1911 companies.NRA Life Benefactor Member

it looks like a Para Ordinance Receiver with a Brazilian slide on it. From all the pics i see online that is not the original slide.07 FFL Farwest Photography

Once upon a time, Para made and sold kits that you could buy to build your own 1911, it may have been one of those. My Springer Champion frame is made in Brazil by that company. They have a good quality rep.sigpic

I agree it looks like a Kit frame.
These were sold without slides.
You can tell because the front strap is smooth and without vertical serrations like on the production guns.
The front strap was left smooth so it could be checkered or serrated as desired by the builder.

I have one of those slides, same markings, SN#29XXX.
I got in the early 90's from Sarco for around $30 after reading some gun mag article about switching 1911 slides around between full size, commander and officer - never did anything with it.
Now it is my go to SSE slide because it is so worn it easily fits on frames that any other slide will barely start on, currently it is on my Rudius.Comment

Thanks for all the comments and help fellow Calgunners ...I do see that this slide has that ugly matte colt finish on it so I will hold off on altering it in any way until I can verify the slide origin for sure .. the barrel has the same matte black colt ugly finish with no markings on it ...except for some numbers under neither the barrel lug ...Comment
