So Cal FFL That Ships Out

I'm looking for a FFL in So Cal that will ship to another FFL without charging a ridiculous fee. I'm in the San Gabriel / Pasadena area and willing to drive 30-50 miles.

    Anybody know of any?

Try calling Ade's in Orange. They're really cool guys and might be able to work with you for a decent price.

Mike's Gunsmithing in Long Beach recently shipped a rifle for me to N. Carolina and charged $40 including shipping. I asked about shipping a pistol recently and was quoted the same amount.

I was told by a Turners employee they are going out of business soon.

Most transactions, at least here in CA require FFL to FFL transfer.

No law requires you use a FFL to ship, only that you need an FFL to receive, it's just a policy of some FFL's to not accept a gun from a non FFL.

Here in California, I believe the only exception is a registered AW which requires a AW registered FFL to ship.

I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

Ask Bain & Davis first, they are in your neighborhood (626)573-4241.

Dude, for the money you would spend on gas for driving that far, just send it out UPS like I told you on the phone! You will spend less money!

As I said before, you don't need an FFL to ship it out, unless it is their policy that it has to be sent from an FFL.

But legally, you can ship a firearm for repair or refinishing directly to a FFL by UPS or Fedex.

You certainly would not believe what a turners employee told you about another shop would you?

                    No not Turners,

Someone at Turners told him Mike's Gunsmithing is going out of business. I had to do a reread at 1st also.

I have heard that from a few other places as well, so it's not just a Turner's rumor.

Turners will also tell you that only Bushmaster AR's with sealed magwells are legal and that all the other ones are illegal.

I've heard it on this forum as well, the Gunsmith part, not Bushmaster stuff.

Not to turn this into a Turners thread, but they aren't by far the only gun store that will tell customers that, or claim the OLL movement is illegal, and to be honest unless until I found this site by accident 7-8 months ago I thought all AW stuff was illegal here too.

If someone just told me, no it's cool I wouldn't have just taken their word for it. I feel comfortable enough now to own one and take it out, but if it wasn't for Calguns, no fn way I would have.

I'm trying to go the cost effective route here. I figure the FFL would use USPS Priority Mail, which would cost $10-20 total just to ship. If they charge $20-25 for the service, the total would still be less than shipping overnight with UPS or FedEx.

As for gas, I used to have a very gas efficient car. The one I'm driving now is not as efficient, but still won't compare to ridiculous shipping fees!

I thought I'd try to find a local FFL first before giving up and pay for overnight shipping.

Overnight? Are you in a hurry? Does CCR know you are in a hurry? I know you can pay extra for expedited service from them, but it may not be as quick as you think.....

Yes, FFL's charge more because they have to pay someone to log it in and out (both times), pack it, and ship it. Plus they have to make a profit on it, or else its not worth the effort. We just don't ship via U.S. mail very often if we can help it (for seveal reasons), and use UPS whenever possible. Plus, if you ship it yourself, you'll get it quicker because you won't worry about the dealer forgetting to ship it out on time and causing you a couple of extra days (happens from time to time - sorry guys!), or them forgetting to call you when it comes back in for you to pick it up.

Just send it UPS ground and get over it
