    Les Baer

I'm very happy with my Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded, but what's your opinion about stepping up to the Les Baer 1911 and which model?
    Thanks for your opinion!

If your really "very happy" with the springer what is a bear going to do for? Will it make you "Very very very Happy"? If so you might as well I guess.

I don't have a Springfield, but I have a Sig 1911 that I had before I got my Baer PII. As soon as I picked the Baer up, it was something else. It's a tank, feels really nice to hold, and shoots very nicely. The break-in of the Baer is part of the fun My PII is my favorite shooter, with my 97B being second, then the Sig 1911.

I'll let this pick do the talking in regards to my Baer. Oh yeah, it's not just purdy, it's a tack driver!!!

Read this thread about a TRS with 30K+ rounds through it, that'll speak volumes about how great a Baer is.

I think they are the best value of the 'high end 1911' brands.

The consensus seems to be that Baer is as good as the other top makers (Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, SA Custom Shop, Ed Brown, Dan Wesson, etc.) in most ways. Downside is a good percentage think they lack the 'fit & finish' of some of those other brands, but most would agree they are equals in 'function' (plenty of people have cited shooting many 10s of thousands of rounds through theirs).

Most of Baer's models are variants on the same core gun they make, so getting a Premier II (designed as a range gun) vs. a Custom Carry or TRS (designed for carry) is really just a matter of what options (e.g., sights) will come on the pistol. So don't overthink it too much just go with the one you like.

                Baers also come in a plain cardboard box;

the company is trying to deliver a high quality pistol at the best price so they really just spend the money on the core product:

                - experienced gunsmiths doing the hand fitting
                - using top end materials (e.g., carbon steel frame/slide, forged parts).

they probably don't leave as much budget out there for high-end customer service (they're still good just not great) as the other top brands.

I've owned a RIA, Sig TacOps, and a Ruger SR1911. Then I got the Les Baer SRP. I now understand what "hand fitted" means. The tolerance on this gun is amazing. Everything is so well put together that nothing wiggles, jiggles, or rattles. I love the way Baer does the undercut on the trigger guard. It let's you get a nice high grip. Mine is all broken in and the action is smooth. Haven't had any issues with mine.

I have a PremierII. If you want a Baer get it, you will not be disappointed. By the way my Baer is my Avatar.

I have a Springfield 1911 Loaded in 9mm and a Les Bear CC in .45 ACP.
The difference in fit and finish between the two guns is distinctly noticeable.

While I am happy with my Springfield, I am VERY, VERY, VERY happy with my LB

Now that I know I need the LB, which model and should I get a 6" or 5"?

Very nice choice, both are nice. The LB feedback I have echo's the above. That being said the SA Loaded is no slouch. As for slide length and model, all but one of my 1911's are 5". I went for the TRS as it called to me:-) good luck

I was a huge SA fan for a long time. Then decided to get a CC Baer one day to see if it's as good as everyone says. Long story short, all of my SA 1911s are gone and I only have Baers.
