Please help me pick a 1911

As far as my needs... well, I am not and never will be a match shooter. I want a solid, reliable, easy to shoot and good looking 1911. Hah! I know that doesnt narrow it down much. I am not concerned with carry/ compact. Dont need huge match grade sights. It will likely never be my "go-to" gun ( Im VERY happy with my XD. But just love the look, feel and history behind the 1911. So its basically a goody for me.

Sounds to me, that your posts are eeking of base model!

I think you should get a RIA tactical, Springfield Mill Spec, or maybe even a GI from those companys. They will be reliable, and you will at least start at the bottom, then work your way up to the higher priced models.. Like Les Baer or other high priced guns... Thats what i would do....

That may be my next project if I ever get finished with the dozen or so others that I've started.

I'm gonna throw in the Springfield Loaded for that mid-priced gun.

You can have many of the aesthetic bells and whistles that you'll find on Kimbers and other high-end guns like the beavertail grip safety, novak-style tritium sights, straight msh, etc. and it's in that $900-1100 range.

It's not going to be as accurate as an Ed Brown or any other high-end gun, but it still comes from the factory with many of the modifications that shooters desire in their 1911s without breaking the bank.

Noooooooooooooooooooo! No builds. This time, Im buying one The AK was a PITA.

I may not be smart enough to avoid doing stupid things... but Im not dumb enough to do it twice!

Maybe someday, when I know these suckers really well, I'll consider ASSEMBLING my own 1911 from a stripped frame and kit ( most likely not), but I sincerely doubt that I will build one from an 80% frame.

That said, Jeff... if you do, let me know. Itd be cool to watch.
