    RIA 1911 won't feed hollowpoints

Hey guys!!! I have a RIA tactical 1911 that has a hard time feeding hollowpoints. The weird things is that if I load 7 or 8 rounds in the magazines the hollowpoint or ball ammo won't feed. It gets stuck on the feed ramp. However, if I load only 6 hollowpoints into the magazine then the round feeds fine. I tried ACT mags, wilson combats and nighthawks which all had the same issue. It's weird! So what I did was load the 1911 with a hollowpoint in the chamber and then a 7 round magazine with the first 2 rounds ball ammo and the rest hollowpoint and it feeds fine. So the trick is hollowpoint in the chamber, 2 ball ammo and the rest hollowpoint.

Could be the feed ramp needs to be polished but what are the specifics on the ammo? Brand, self-loads, etc?
    All new mags?
The only time I've experienced this was with improperly crimped ammo.

      Could be the mags.

      Try the Wilson Combat ones.

My new RIA also did this. I used round nose bullets for about 4-5 hundred rounds and also switched out the OEM mags for Kimber mags or Chip McCormick.

It's the feed ramp that needs a bit off work.

That's really unusual, my RIA tactical feeds everything just fine. Maybe give them a call and ask for advice?

Sounds like you would be better off loading 9 rounds of ammo for now if this is your HD gun.

This is where it gets stuck.

A wise man once said "Stop making excuses why your 1911 isn't working" - James F'ing Yeager.

"Could be the mags could be this could be that. Could be that your pistol isnt working." Get one that works problem solved.

Perfect reason to contact their Warranty depth, tell them it's your main gun for protection and it needs work. Many guys on 1911 forum. Com have had their guns receive a tune up. Great CA at RIA

Feedway Stoppage: As my friend and mentor, Ken Hackathorn, likes to say, the 1911 is the “King of Feedway Stoppages.” If you shoot one and say you have never had one of these, you are either lying or need to shoot more. A host of causes may be responsible, to include a rough breech face, burred firing pin hole, excessive extractor tension, inappropriate extractor geometry, barrel lower lug/link geometry, and of course issues with the geometry and surface finish of the feed ramp and barrel throat. Trying to blindly fix these issues is also the number one way in which kitchen table gunsmiths absolutely destroy their guns using a Dremel in the absence of skill or knowledge
We in Bangor, Maine now baby.

Wise man and Yeager don't belong in the same sentence

.45 ACP comes out of the barrel big enough as it is, you don't need hollow-points.

Oh, and Yeager is an idiot and a hypocrite and only a fool would listen to him, let alone quote him.

The rest of your quote was good, but this part is epic.
