Pre owned G30S and SSE guidelines (purchase, FFL and DROS)

So I went to purchase a Glock 30S at my local gun store today, and the Manager said that SSE in CA is illegal. I politely corrected him and explained that things will change in 2015

He said its an extreme gray area and they don't mess with it. Fair enough...

So if I want to purchase a pre owned CA Glock 30S, do i need to convert it back to its SSE configuration before I take it to an FFL that provides SSE services?

Please tell me that because its already been legally converted and now in CA, that I don't need to convert back and I can complete the DROS at my local preferred FFL.

If the 30s is a ppt you do not have to do anything to it other than ppt it.

Perfect! just to confirm what your saying, If I buy another Calgun members G30S, which will be PPT, Then I just need to find an FFL that deals with PPT?

Yes! Once the gun is in CA and both seller and buyer is a CA resident than it is a simple PPT, again this needs to be a face to face transaction "no shipping". There are a lot of reasons why a used gun is not on the roster SSE is just one of them. Any LGS that does PPT (which is all of them) can do this. No big5' or the type.

Caveat: you cannot receive any magazines greater than 10 round capacity with it. So if the previous owner has 13 round mags he cannot pass them on to you.

Private party transfer your GTG. Don't need to worry about anything.

SSE is only for new purchases which only some shops do.

Why not just drive up to Sac area and get a new one while you still have a chance? Placer Tactical or Sac Black Rifle could help you, among others. I'm not sure how many used G30S you're going to find in CA - they're kind of desirable. Anyone thinking of selling via PPT will probably wait until after Jan 1 2015, as the price they will fetch will be higher then.

                Good luck!

The weapon doesn't come with 13 round mags.

I don't under some people's logic. If it was a grey area or illegal, why would Senate Legislators make new laws to ban something that was already illegal. How can any sane person argue against that logic?

Also call Cordelia Gun Exchange in Fairfield. There may be others closer to you. Check the SSE sticky thread...

Because their shop doesn't deal in SSE and they want to make money.
