    Browning Hi-Power

Well- I did some reading last night and I think the next handgun will be a Browning Hipower in 9mm. Thinking either of a satin finish or a blued finish.

Still have not decided between the fixed or adj. sights (any suggestions let me know) What is the difference between the standard model and the MKIII?

I'd like to get a belgium model- I don't care for guns made outside the US or Europe

I just checked the CA list and most of the browning hi-powers go off in less than 2 months- how funny, they go off on my birthday, 7/26

Any ideas on where i can pick one up from for a reasonable price (i don't see too many on GB.com or the net)?

All new hi powers are MK III's. Browning and FN Hi powers are exactly the same, made at the same place just different stampings on them. I would suggest fixed sights but that is a personal prefference. I have Novak's adjustable sights on mine which work great.

LA and bakersfield area. Let me know.

So all brownings, no matter if it is the standard, mkiii, or practical, they are really all mkiii's?

I just did some more reading and the FN's are made in belgium too, i guess that is an option now. I just want something stamped with the words browning, i read the FN's say "browning hi-power"

im leaving towards fixed sights too

Look in to the FN's I was quoted about $440 for a brand new FN hi Power and somewhere in the mid 700's for the same thing with the browning logo.

lamb- where did you find that for 440?

Does anyone know if the FN says browning or hi-power on it at all?

I know CDNN has some good deals on hi-Powers, around $400 for the FN. I also heard on another board FN will only be making hi-powers for Browning.

CDNN does not have anymore standard Hi-powers :-( They only have the new one with that worthless hammer safety so it doesnt looked cocked but it really is.
                    I'll just keep checking GB.com
If anyone knows an dealers with one in stock at a good price, let me know, out of state works too....I just got to make sure its on the approved list.....

If i don't get an FN (cheaper route), i'll get the the browning...

Pretty good price. I paid 660 for mine at Turners Norwalk about a year ago.

Seems like nobody has FN Hi-Powers in 9mm, only 40.

There is going to be one at the Costa Mesa Gunshow tomorrow. Private seller is selling a nice Belgium HP 9mm with ADJ, Sights, i think he was going to ask around 500.00 for it. If you are interested, i can give you his phone number or just walk around the show tomorrow. He is going to be selling mainly old ammo, but was going to have a 1903, commercial m1 carbine, some type of surplus 1911 and a few other odds and ends.

The FN does NOT say Browning... it says FN Herstal and has the really cool FN logo. (well mine does anyway, not all FN's have the logo)

CDNN won't ship handguns to Ca, I already tried... 3 times.

and the SFS system isn't worthless and YES is does show the hammer cocked when it REALLY IS. Plus it won't give you "hammer bite" like the old ring hammers sometimes do.

                          SFS safety ON.
                          price = $475 (about 1 1/2 - 2 years ago?)

                          edit:
oh yeah... the FN HP doesn't come off the list until 03/13/2007
                          FN HP-SA / Steel Pistol 4.66" 9mm 3/13/2007
