Rough Rider trigger lock not approved?

I am purchasing a little single action revolver, Heritage Rough Rider, and the lgs said the trigger lock that comes with the revolver isn't an approved device so I need to buy a cable lock. So I have three questions, first is that right? Secondly, how do you use a cable lock on a single action revolver? Lastly, I have a single pistol gunvault...does that count?

I bought the same gun a while back and didn't have to buy a separate lock. But, LGSs have different interpretations of the laws .. don't know who's technically right or wrong, but I didn't need one.

You may wish to call Heritage and ask. The fact it's a trigger lock may confuse them.

You also need to procure a lock within 30 days of taking possession if the firearm does not come with one.

As of January 1, 2002, no firearm may be sold, transferred, or manufactured within California unless that firearm is accompanied by a DOJ-approved firearms safety device (California Penal Code section 23620, et seq).

That's PRIOR TO taking possession - it's a checkoff item for the LGS: bring the lock and a receipt dated 30 days or less prior to the pickup-date for the gun.

So, go to Walmart, buy the lock, bring the lock and receipt, pick up the gun, return the lock. Be sure you have a completely-enclosing locking case to transport the handgun.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

As always, Librarian is correct. That's what I meant but can see now it was unclear. Thanks for the clarification.
