OK, I want to ship an SSE pistol out of state for some work. Is there any legality issue with (re)-importing a non roster pistol into California once the work is done?

Good question. My guess is that it is your pistol already, your are not importing or buying anything. Some manufacturers won't take care off roster guns though so check first or they'll receive it and not send back your property.
Since its yours, I don't k ow how the roster can apply.==================

Remember to dial 1 before 911.
Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.
There. Are. Four. Lights! -
What kind of work are you having done? Is it warranty?
Best bet is to call ahead and make sure they are OK with it *BEFORE* you ship.My Marketplace Feedback: https://www.calguns.net/forum/market...k#post54003245Comment

The roster is only for what Dealer's can transfer to a non-exempt CA resident. Once it's registered to a CA resident, the roster, technically, shouldn't matter.
There are more ways than just SSE to legally obtain off-roster handguns in CA.Comment

As noted above, it shouldn't be a problem.
However, at one point at least one manufacturer - I think it was Sig - did have an issue with it, due to an overly cautious interpretation of California's highly complex gun laws. I think that's been straightened out, but check with whoever you're sending it to first.Comment
