    Range report; M&P 45c

took my new M&P 45c to Fieldtime target and training today. Had a blast
    Here is the range report.
I suck. AND wasn't feelin great but today is the only day I can shoot for a week and a half; so I made it happen. Also, I'm transitioning from an HK USP da/sa to striker fired guns. so...
shot a box of Geco 230 grain ball, it sucked IMO. But at least it wasn't magnetic.
Then shot a box and a half of Sellior and Bellot 230 grain ball. decently accurate, but very smokey.
    pics or it didn't happen.
also included, rented a FNS-9, which was a typical thrashed range gun, I wish I could try the trigger on a newer one. A G19, which was like my old Honda; it got me there... and I shot my German Sig P226 in 9mm.

Your just getting use to the gun/trigger, it'll tighten up(your groups). Are you going to carry the 45c? I am really thinking about picking one up, have the full size and a matching compact would be very cool. But I really do not need another carry/compact .45, so I keep going back and forth about it. I can pick one up for about $550 otd so price is right. What to do, what to do?

I bought it with the idea it may become a carry gun. The full size mags also work in the compact, and I was more accurate with the added grip they provided. I have the Full size M&P 45 with the 4.5" barrel as well, and it is an awesome pistol.
The compact does have a heavier recoil impulse but it's not much more than the full size.

The fact that you can use the 8, 10 and 14 round mags in the .45c makes it even more tempting, I find all my M&Ps to be very good at soaking up recoil. I'm sure the 45c would be no deferent. With my two .40 M&Ps I use the large grip, with the .45 the medium.
My current crop of M&Ps, room for one more I think.

if you rearrange them all, you have room for 2 more!
          nice collection.

Nice, thanks for the pic. Good to see the .45 and 45c next to each other to compare the size difference.

UTC, thanks for the pic. If you do take some comparison pics would you mind taking one from above of the compact sitting directly on top of the mid-size?

                    Thanks!

I will, but my full size is the big sucker with the 4.5 inch barrel (if I could have bought the FDE with the 4" slide I would have.) but it was only available with the longslide. The black pistol is my wifes 9.
I'll have pictures up in about an hour.

Does the .45c only come with a safety? For some reason I seem to remember it does. It looks like a righteous 1911-style lever, instead of the hidden nub on the Shield. In other words, easy to deactivate on the draw.

Tiberius. The ones I bought only came with it, but the black M&P it is optional. They can be removed and plugs installed, which I will be doing. I've no experience with 1911's, but my HK USP 45 safety/decocker was awesome. I never accidentally activated it or deactivated it. These, I don't care for. It is the only feature I don't like on the M&P. Placement is not ideal for my thumb/hand, and they are too easy to activate/deactive ( for me anyway,) other people may like them.
4DSJW, I tried to get the ontop pic you requested but my cell phone just wouldn't agree. I'll post it with some others. Hopefully they offer what you were looking for.

Thanks for the tips - I like the way the USP lever works, and assumed the M&P would be the same. As with yours, my USP lever has always stayed where it's put, and is well-placed for easy use. Still - I'll try to get a hand on an M&P 45 one of these days.
