    1911 Frame refinishing

I have a question out there for anyone who may have experience with this topic. I have a 1911 LW (aluminum) frame that needs refinishing. It came to me with a horrible black finish that needs to be refinished. My question is if I were to media blast this with fine SS, will it do any damage to the fine front strap checkering if done correctly? Also when applying a coating such as cerakote, will there be issues with the fitment( generally speaking)? Thanks

That'd be a definite no on both questions, Sir. When Cerakote is applied correctly, there should not be any dimensional issues.

i put 4 heavy coats of cerakote on a glock slide today and it didnt even come close to filling the lettering in. checkering will be fine. ive painted a bunch of checkered frames and main spring housings without an issue

I have seen media blasting damage fine checkering, so be careful what media you pick if your checkering is very detailed.
