    Glock Grip Shortening

I'm looking to shorten my G19 grip to match the G26. Anyone know a good company for doing the work in a timely fashion? Would rather find someone in CA but not a deal breaker. I contacted Springer Precision, Bowie Tactical, and Robar. I think I can work with Springer for a shorter turnaround; BT says 4 months, Robar says 3 months. I'm looking for 2-3 weeks. I could do it myself, but I'm willing to pay to have a decent job done - I'm pretty sure my first attempt wouldn't turn out to be my prettiest!

Anyway, if you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

As an aside, I ride motorcycles too, and I've had some custom seats built by small vendors. One in particular will send you a reservation week (with deposit, of course) and you are responsible for shipping your seat to be in place a week prior to your reservation. That way you are only out of a seat for two weeks, maybe three, and he doesn't have 50 seats cluttering up the shop. You're responsible for making the timing work out - you blow it, you restart the reservation process. I can't figure out why some of these vendors won't do the same thing (I asked!). I can think of a bunch of reasons why I wouldn't want dozens of customers' guns laying around the shop for months at a time. Am I missing something?

Sorry.... Not what you want to hear. But...

Sell your G19 (easy to do) and just buy a G26. And be sure to compare the grip of the Gen3 vs Gen4 G26.
To me, the difference is quite noticeable and significant... especially with the G26's small grip.

SARS - thanks, I'll give him a shout.

Nikki - no worries. I've thought of it. I shot the 26 several times before deciding on the 19. Have not had a chance to handle any Gen 4's. My thought on 19 vs. 26 is that I can still use the larger mags someday in a Free State, I keep the longer sight radius and heavier slide, and it will conceal basically as easily as the 26. I know Robar will keep the cut portion of grip and fasten it to one of the original mags to give you one long mag that would still appear "normal" when loaded.

I think Glock works has a decent turn out at doing this. I remember there was like 3 or 4 other big names that do good work but that was 2 years ago when everyone and their mother was stippling and cetakoting their Glocks

Keep your G19 and put the money you save from shortening the grip on a G26.

CK - thanks. I contacted them but they no longer offer that mod. They said it voids the warranty and interestingly, weakens the frame. I wouldn't think taking an inch off the bottom of the grip would weaken the frame but I was a Marine, not an engineer.

Yes. You'd never be able to sell the 'shortened' G19...

There was another shortened G19 for sale recently and someone bought it.

I see Robar's price for that is $300. So add the cost of round trip shipping, insurance and tax and you're most of the way to the price of a new G26. Can't see why anyone would do this.

ElDub - that's for the whole grip reduction package. $85 if you simply want the grip shortened. From what I've been able to find, $70-$100 depending on the vendor. One think I kind of liked about Robar, they will keep the cut portion of the grip intact and attach it to one of your stock G19 mags.

Anyone out there that would shorten the grips of my g34 to g26 size?
