    M&P replacement sear too good.

So I bought the Apex hard sear as a replacement for a couple of my M&P pistols. It gives a nice, crisp, and above all else, light trigger pull versus the factory trigger. I really like it in the full-sized version, and thought I would try it out in the compact and shield. It only takes about 5 minutes to swap out. Half of that was me looking for the punches. I tried the Shield first. And while it drops right in, even with the magazine and thumb safeties, I ended up pulling it out about 20 minutes later. I never even got it to the range. The problem is that it gives the shield a very light trigger pull. There is still a lot of slack to take up. I would say that there is actually more slack to take up than with the factory sear. The problem is that I get to the point where the trigger is ready to break, and it goes snap with a satisfying crispness. But for a handgun that is meant for CCW, I think it is just too light for me. I can see myself having an accident with it in a stressful situation. So back to the factory sear for me. The compact, which I also plan to carry post Peruta, will be left as-is as well. Too bad. But I'd rather have the heavier trigger for this one application. I wish some of my other pistols were this easy to upgrade.

Smart move, I knew people back east that thought it was cool to carry a weapon with a "glass rod" for a trigger.... Not for me either

Don't they have a Carry Package for the Shield?

I put the "Carry" kit in my M&P40c and started getting unplanned Doubletaps. Replaced the new sear with the old one and kept all the other mods and ended up with a nice crisp trigger.

Probably just need a stronger return spring on the trigger. No first hand experience with the Shield kits, but on the Forwards Set Sear kits for other models the kit has two available springs. One at 3.5 lbs and the other at 4.5 lbs. I ended up using the latter for the same reason. With reduced overall travel, 3.5 lbs pull felt too light.

I have the DCAEK kit in my 40sw full size and 9mm full size. Aprox. a 5lb pull.

Duty Carry Action Enhancement Kit = DCAEK. Even though they advertise the sear as a separate part I think it's designed to be used as a kit. They even state if you don't use the trigger spring in the kit, it will be a very lite pull.

I used the complete kit with the trigger in my shield, yielded about 5.5lb pull with little take up. Made the trigger very smooth and a crisp break.

This kit made the gun shoot much better as the stock trigger was so heavy I was shooting low left with it.

I have the USB already in the Shield. I may have to look into getting the heavier spring and trying that out. But for now, I think I'll stick with the factory sear. With the USB, the trigger pull is clean. And the trigger engages sooner into the pull that it does with the Apex sear. I'll keep the heavier trigger pull until I have more training with this particular pistol, and CCW in general. Besides, until Peruta finishes, I can't carry here in California anyway. Only when I visit any of the 35 other states that recognize my permits.
