Bump with a solution and a big thank you to kayakbriang for the referral.

I got permission from the middleman FFL to post his contact info here for anyone else who might want one of these or anything else a little weird before SSE goes away

I'll let you know how it goes and I'll post pics when mine comes in. I've never dealt with him before but if you search his email here on calguns it looks like he's helped some others out over the years and he's got extensive A+ feedback on gunbroker

    From the FFL:

Thanks in advance for any referrals.

I can do compliance on any firearm. That includes the ones for which commercial maglock devices are offered (HK, AK, PS90, etc.) and ones for which no commercial maglock device is offered (scorpion VZ61, Ruger charger, PPS43C, sterlings/uzis, etc.)

I'm a dealer for nearly 100 manufacturers and have purchase agreements with eight nationwide distributors who carry just about everything. If it is in current production and being distributed, I can get it or I can backorder it.

I like guns and I like gun people. I never mind giving a quote.

My mark up is usually modest and sometimes my prices are untouchable.

I'm also willing to accomplish any compliance work that is required by the buyer's state.

Feel free to share my contact info with friends. I can always use some more business.

Until next time, may you fare well in the hands of the Most High One.

    Regards,
    Michael

            PPS43-C as SSE goes away

Thank you for the contact info for a CA friendly (rare bird indeed).
I've been looking all over for a mag lock solution.
The PPS43-C was on my short list before Jan 1st.
            You've helped me decide now.
Anyone who gets one through the above contact, before say Dec 1st, can you post your impressions, good or bad.
This would be my final SSE, in December.
            Thanks

Only $299 for 9mm version at Classic:

Polish PPS-43C pistol, semi-automatic, manufactured in the famed Radom Plant in Poland, includes one 30rd mags - 9mm caliber. The 9mm round is plentiful and affordable. Ships complete with 1-30 round magazines.   This is one cool cat.  Original Polish PPS-43C in a semi-auto version.  9mm caliber considered a pistol due to overall length.  Comes with one- 30rd mags.  The PPS-43C (Pistolet-Pulemet Sudaeva, a model of 1943 = Sudaev SMG) was born as an answer to the need for a weapon that is more compact and mobile than the PPSh-41, then in use by the Soviet Army.  The PPSh-41 was somewhat too long to be used by tank crews and mobile recon groups and paratroopers, so late in 1941, the Red Army issued a request for a new more compact submachine gun (SMG).  The designer Sudaev initially designed his new SMG in 1942, and it was adopted under the designation of PPS-42.  The next year he refined the design, and this final model was designated as the PPS-43.  This model was manufactured in significant numbers (nearly two million PPS-43 weapons were manufactured between 1943 and 1946).  The PPS-43 is sometimes referred to as the best SMG of World War II. After WWII, it was widely exported to pro-Soviet regimes around the world and widely copied.  This historical firearm has been re-designed to shoot from a closed bolt position.  The safety is located at the front of the trigger guard.  The receiver and barrel shroud are made from stamped steel.  The rear sight is an L-shaped flip type and is marked for 100 and 200 meters, the front sight is a fixed blade type.  The barrel is equipped with a simple muzzle brake.  This firearm is an ATF approved pistol.  The stock has no function and is permanently fixed in its folded position.  Since adding this pistol to our product line in mid-2011 it has consistently been one of our best sellers and has a minimal return rate.  This pistol in the 9mm alternative can only make it more popular.  This pistol is manufactured at the famed Radom Plant in Poland.  All parts and components are new and Polish made. Pistol and mags fit like a glove in this Bulldog 25" Tactical Soft Case. Again, The folding stock is not functional. The mechanism is disabled and it has been welded in place. Cannot be sold to California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, or Hawaii due to State Law Firearm Restrictions.

My understanding is that the pistol needs to come in to the state to an non 07 FFL with the bullet button installed because the mag is out of the pistol grip.

The BB maybe the issue. Otherwise you just need to make a 0 round sled to SSE this one as the barrel is longer than 6"
