    Heya Malaprop14,

They used to refer to that method as "Dutch' Loading."

Any modern day Shotgun Tactical Class, whoops, did I use a bad word, will run you thru a scenario or two to show the shooter the value of Dutch Loading. I don't know a single person who went thru such a class that uses the method today. But it is up to the shooter.

Dutch Loading has been used with pistols and rifles too since the invention of multiple shots. Cowboy rolls-up a $20 bill and sticks it in the chamber of his six-gun to bury him, yada yada yada. Don't you just love television.

For me pistol fits in the nightstand and is always ready. Would a shotgun or carbine have more stopping power yeah but first rule of a gunfight is have a gun and nightstand is an arms length away. Also I have fairly narrow hallways. I use a sig sp2022 in .40sw with night sights and tlr1 light for me I think it'll do the job if not the safe isn't far away either for backup.
