I have a California CCW and carry daily, opting between the P238 and a larger frame S&W Shield weighing in at 19 ounces.
The half of a pound difference in carrying weight between the two P238s versus target grouping makes far more CCW sense to me to carry the HD. You're bothered by carrying around 20 ounces verses 15 ounces on your personal body weight? Come on....
I carry a .380 for times when I have minimal clothing and I want something as light as possible. I will carry my XDs9 (22.5 oz) if I am in a situation that I don't mind carrying a heavier gun. As far as groupings, I have been shooting a long time and I have no doubt I will be able to run the lighter P238 well (trying it out today). My current .380 is an LCP which is lighter than either P238, and I shoot it very well.

Aluminum frame P238. This was standing at 15 feet, 50 rnds rapid fire (practicing mag changes). I can live with this grouping.

Put 250 rounds through mine yesterday including a box a buffalo Bore 90gr +P, and it ran perfect. Looking through the sights the LCI is not visible at all. Gun is ready for carry now...
