Springfield TRP not on roster ??

    TRP PC9107LP & PC9108LP

My understanding is the " P " is " Package " and that means all the plastic stuff is included like the holster & mag holder etc and is irrelevant to the model of the handgun being approved.

The pistol sku# without the " P" is on the roster and CA approved.

Local shop has these in their " LE ONLY " case and they said because of the " P" in the sku # are not CA approved.

Can someone confirm with link or ? either way ?

From what I've read, it shouldn't matter. If your LGS won't sell it to you, I doubt you're going to be able to change their mind. Find a knowledgeable LGS that knows that it's the same gun.

EDIT: post has been updated to correct my earlier post.

As you stated, the "P" stands for "package" and does not make the gun off-roster. The LGS that has these as LEO only is because these do not have the wood grips. Springfield changed the grips to G-10's but did not change the model number. I have read that the non rail TRP's that SA ships to CA FFL's still include the wood grips to conform with the roster. I have also heard of a few FFL's selling both the black and stainless models with G-10 grips even if they do not have the wood grips because the model number matches the roster. The hard case for the TRP non rail guns without wood grips has the "Not Legal In California" sticker that SA uses on off roster guns.

With that said, the LGS stating that they are off roster because of the "P" is crazy considering every gun SA puts out comes in a package. That would mean that this FFL thinks all SA handguns are off-roster. Sounds like they saw the "Not Legal In California" sticker (because of the grips) an assumed it was due to the fact that the model number ended with a "P".

There are 3 TRP's on the CA Roster. They are as follows:

PC9105LCA = black full rail TRP (I do not think this mode ever came with wood grips and I don't believe theirs a non CA model)
PC9107L = stainless no rail TRP (wood grips)
PC9108L = black no rail TRP (wood grips)

The black half rail version which is model number PC9105L is no longer on the roster.

Tell them about the lock too. Springfield's ILS is approved as a lock, no extra purchase necessary.

Here is the long version and list: http://oag.ca.gov/sites/oag.ca.gov/f...rms/chart.pdf?

The TRP that comes with rosewood grips is CA legal. This seems to be hard to come by. I've only seen one in a store. The one that is not on the roster has the gray G-10 grips. I SSE'd mine. Believe it or not they have the same part number and you are right about the "P" suffix code, It does not mean anything as far as the DOJ list. I've verified this with SA. CA version Black Armorcoat, no rail, Rail version has a Bull Barrel and is not on the roster.

The full rail TRP is on the roster (PC9105LCA). The half rail is not (PC9105L). I believe the full rail never had the wood grips so there is no non-CA version of the full rail. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I bought my railless TRP used last year for a steal when I couldn't find one anywhere around the Sacramento area. In the past month i've seen many of the same model in LGS's around here, for hundreds more than I paid..

P just stands for the package which includes the carrying case, holster ..etc

I had a similar issue with my mc operator. It's legal though
