Ever have a spent shell casing land on top of your slide?

So I'm getting some practice in the other day with my G17 for an upcoming comp. I'm shooting strings of six, two rounds into each of 3 target pasties, then a reload.

During one string, on my last round, my slide locked open on the empty mag, and my spent shell casing landed perfectly on top of my slide, primer side down, and actually stayed there. I stood there in disbelief looking at it, and actually called an RO over so we could have a laugh about it.

Never in thousands and thousands of rounds over 25+ years of shooting have I ever had that happen.

I know I know, cool story bro, starry bra, etc etc. Just thought it was an interesting anomaly, and it beats another 9 vs 45 debate.

I had a casing fly up in the air, then as the gun was cycling on the next shot it landed inside the action and caused a jam. Pretty crazy.

I was at the range and watched a guy pelt the guy next to him with rounds over the top of the partition. Neither of them missed a beat it was hilarious.

I guess you have to shoot A LOT to have these unusual circumstances. Never experienced one.

I had one land perfectly behind my ear, like how you'd hold a pencil, but never something as crazy as on the slide.

I've had a round from my SKS shoot straight up and land in the hood of my jacket right on my neck. No where near as cool as your guys stories.

Mark, yours landing behind your ear is better than mine landing on the slide. That's friggin hilarious and probably hurt. Click, what type malfunction would that be called, a 2.5? It clears initially, but then comes back home and stove pipes.

I've had a shell get caught between my temple and the earpiece of my glasses. Not very comfortable!

I also witnessed a shell casing drop down the very open and revealing blouse of a lady friend. Should have seen her jumo around trying to dislodge it. I told her to wear a tall necked/collared shirt, but did she listen no. The next time we went out, she wore a turtleneck.
                  Sorry, not sorry.

Had this happen to me, and got a casing stuck on the nose of my shooting glasses.

I've had this happen, but the gun design probably had a lot to do with it. Mauser Broomhandles eject the brass straight up, so there is probably a higher probability that it will happen.

Anyways the brass went straight up, came down and landed perfectly on top of the gun -- much like you describe.

Firing a broomhandle fast is quite an experience. "let's make it rain"

Back in the day when I lived in a free state, I cleared out the next 4 lanes to my right after putting the S-E-F switch on my old G3 to the F position. Seems that a spray of hot, high-velocity brass was not appreciated ...

BT/DT. Took an old GF shooting, warned her to wear a shirt that buttoned all the way up ... she still wanted to show off the goods for me. It all worked out in the end, though - I got to put aloe on the burn for her.

What did the shell bounce off before landing on the slide.
Sounds like the ol' JFK magic bullet theory that has since been explained.

                            Almost forgot--cool story bro.

Not sure the trajectory the case took but had a couple stay on the brim of a baseball cap. Friend next to me saw them.
