Copper Glock "lube" after it wears off?

Anyone think about reapplying more of that copper lube after it wear off?

It sounds like it is just Loctite C5-A anti-sieze.

You can get it on Amazon for about $12 for 8 ounces or a pound tub for $18. That sounds like a great deal since a little goes so far.

What about trying it on other guns? It seems like great hard-use and harsh environment lube.

I just lube with whatever is on hand. Non-name oil, Hoppes gun oil, rem-oil.
You don't need much with a Glock. But even non-Glocks, get the "whatever is on hand" oil/lube treatment.

I thought it was mostly on Glocks because it stays put and protects the guns while they were in storage waiting for it's new owner. The Glock manual, oddly, states that it should be left one AND also that you should clean and lube your gun before firing ... so which is it?

It probably works as well as any other lube, plus it's "anti-seize" for what that's worth.

Oh yeah, google locktite c5a and you can probably find a cheaper place to buy it. $9 for one ounce is too much I think.

Yeah, it sounds like the best of both types to me. It isn't totally dry but it is a copper based formula with graphite. It sticks and stays put like crazy, doesn't attract dirt. In a range bag a little would last forever.

You don't need to re-apply it and it will go away after a few thousand rounds anyway, which is about the right time to lube. My G17 has over 80,000 rounds thru it and I bought it used.

Yeah I know the drill but I didn't know you could get more till recently.

My Guns get a CLP wipe down so there's that, but on my Glocks I am careful not to remove the copper paste too much if possible. If it is so great and lasts so long why not use it all the time.

There's no need to apply more. Glock says to let it wear into the gun (about 500 rounds) and then to lube normally per their manual (which is only a couple points). Personally I run non-toxic lubes on my guns for various reasons. Never had a malfunction yet.

At Glock school they told us they use that because it will stay in place even if the gun sits at a wherehouse for months or years, knowing full well that many people wont bother to properly lube it before shooting it the first time. Leave it on, take it off, it doesnt matter. It is simply a long term stable lube. There are probably better lubes to use then C5A.

That copper grease is an anti-seize, you don't want to reapply it.

Took me a long time to get that copper stuff out of my pistol.

I've been using Tetra Gun gun grease on mine for years. I really like it.

I have had a tube of tetra for a decade or so, barely used any except on rifle bolts I was storing, not shooting much. I will have to try some on my pistols.

I clean the copper stuff off immediately and apply six drops of CLR, as per the instructions.
